    Its just a thought though.
Cirrhosis? In her early 20s? She would have had to have done some SERIOUS drinking for that to happen.

Like Vash, I initially thought it might be Hepatitis due to it affecting the liver.

Either way, do you really want to deal with a woman that has such a serious illness at such a young age? It's not like you're married... nor have you been in a serious relationship with her for a long time.

Cbrider - I don't know why she'd have to give up boyfriends if it weren't contagious, and all liver patients have to give up the booze because it is so toxic to the liver. I'd be surprised if it progressed to cirrhosis at such a young age. She would have had to been chronically drinking like Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. My money is still on hepatitis.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

i doubt she's actually giving up much of anything. i think its just an i'm extremely upset i dont want to do anything, see anyone, i just want to sit in my room by myself and sulk kinda deal. the only other thing to add is she said it could be cancerous and she doesn't want to do kemo. can hepatitis lead to cancer?

I believe it can cause cancer but alcohol is more likely to cause liver cancer but at her age is unlikely.
You should try to be as supportive as possible for her.

You said bulimia. Do you mean biliary? It could be some type of biliary disease. No matter. Any condition related to the liver in any way can be serious. And yes hepatitis or cirrhosis can lead to cancer. It sounds like she has something contagious and I am guessing hepatitis of the viral form.

well all you can do right now is to be patient. she wants to deal with this in her own way, but when she finally realizes that missing out on life isn't all that great, she will return to normal.
