It was so cold here yesterday that my hair froze on the way to class... it wasn't even remotely wet! It was around -30 degrees out! And the snow..... well it's not the snow that's so bad... it's snow+wind that will kill you.

Looking at the smog... LA. It's the only place I know of on the West Coast with that kind of haze 24/7 over the city.

It's not so much that there's snow here. (I'm 3 hours N. of BO in Seattle) It's that the damn cities aren't prepared to remove the snow. Take extremely hilly areas in cities that refuse to salt their roads, and don't have enough plows to get the arteries clean let alone the side streets.

I was fine w/ the 6-8" we got in Dec. But then again I have AWD and I grew up where temps get as low as -15 and we regularly got snow.

Which is why most my riding never goes through that part of LA. The coastal area is usually very clear, going inland the higher you go there is very little haze/smog at all. As can be seen in those pictures.

Not all of the LA county has haze covering it.

Cold temperatures like what you get in the Dakotas does not increase the snowfall. Comparing nearest cities on some site, Syracuse NY averaged literally 3 times the amount of snow as Bismarck ND, around 120 inches to 45


And shoveling snow is a measure of your manhood
