Recreational flying is probably tons of fun, but I'll always regard it as something for people who got some money to burn, I bet that the costs of learning as well as hiring a plane and paying for fuel is moderate to high, and about to only get higher. But if it's what you want to do, by all means, it'll be great, just be responsible and calm.
If its as a career, well, it's nowhere as glamorous to fly a 747 for a 10-hour run as 2 hours in a low-altitude prop aircraft.
But still, helicopters will rule supreme.
