I'm not being hard on her.

I understand this may be discouraging for her, however, if she's going to project any of that disappointment to her boyfriend, who is in no wrong besides not having covered up his tracks more thoroughly in his own e-mail account, then she is completely out of line.

    Two words Lessia

    Grow

    Up
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

My advice is to confront him and tell him that while you were snooping through his things you found out he used the same old tired lines on his old girlfriend on you and that that is just plain unacceptable, that you deserve much better than that and that if he can't come up with it on his own he should ask somebody, take a class or buy a book and that the next time you snoop around his things you expect to find something about you and with some original material. Oh yeah and make sure you add that you bust your ass to keep it interesting so he needs to step up his game and show you that he loves you different than his ex and that your not gonna just be some phase for him.

    Very interested in his response...

    Oh, great idea!

Yes, what an outrage! Confront him like this:

"Hey you! While I was snooping through your things without your permission I have accidentally discovered something completely unacceptable! You say same things to me as you say to your ex and that has got to stop! From now on instead of saying "I love you" you will say "Me love thou". Instead of saying "You are the love of my life" you will say "My life is for your love". Get it! I will not tolerate anything lesser from you."

Very interested in his response as well. I'm sure he will change his uncouth ways.

Yes!!! Though I'm not sure about the Ye 'Ole English stuff but that's the idea. Also be unapologetic make sure he knows that you will be in his business and that he can't hide anything. Leave out the "without your permission" and "accidentally" those are irrelevant. Make him step up and be the man he should be, the one you love instead of the unoriginal lout that he is right now.

Sorry lessia but am unsure why you feel the need for your boyfriend to love you more than his ex? I don't quite understand why that is important or why you would think it would mean that you two are more likely to stay together??

The intensity of someone's love is not always directly proportional to the chances of a succesful long term relationship...that is fairly obvious i would have thought..the key to a successful relationship is surely about much more than about how much someone loves you or you love them ....seeing as two people can love each other dearly but be incompatible and split up..

As long as they 'bust their ass to keep it interesting' like we do.

He better be a man and drop your weasel, insecure ass when you try to confront him about his past!

Just out of curiosity, do you keep your partners under surveillance?
