I'm still just a "Hot Love Pancake"....and I'm still not sure what it means.

I'm going to tell my fiance that in bed tonight. "Hey baby, I'm a hot love pancake." It would be pretty funny if it actually got him fired up.

I don't remember the month, but the year was 2004. And Vash, Miso & Hayward were the ones to help most with my question. It took me a few months to finally post it, I remember that.

As to reasons, I felt like I needed to return the service. And then it became habit, I guess. Plus, a bit of slumming, if I'm honest. I get to 'talk' to people on here that I would never get to socialize with.

But mostly now, its an opportunity to 'hear' the thoughts of the young minds I interact with, from a perspective I know they would never show me IRL. It helps me in dealing with them, I find, to know something about this underlying mindset. Often, when I 'ping' someone to see their response, I'm doing it so I can learn something in this regard.

I can't imagine folks who have the time to troll & post other boards tho. This place is enough of a time sink.

Agreed about the time sink. This precludes many other hobbies.

I joined, what, three years ago? So glad I did. I was a mess. This place was like a life raft. I was freaking out about getting divorced and getting played by my rebound guy.

It is fun, tho. And I admit my typing speed increased dramatically since I started posting here. I was never a great typer (typist?).

Which makes me think of a question for the younglings:

Without looking it up, how many of you know the *reason why* your 'return' key is called that?

    Anyone??

Indeed. I like helping others. And learning from the mistakes of others is a big reason I stay here.

    What return key? Just playing.

EDIT: I bet these kids know nothing about the typewriter....especially the really old typewriters.

Nope...I never said i knew the answer to your question.

IndiReloaded, you were one of those pessimistic kids who thought they were being cynical but sounded too negative and depressing for any child to give you that title, weren't you?

I actually started college with a "self-correcting" typewriter. I was really envious of my friend because she had a word processor.

    Nary a clue.

Actually, I was and still am rather optimistic. But its true I was, and still am, generally the one who comes up with questions most people can't think of themselves. Leading others to think and respond as if they knew something, not the other way around.

Anyway, yes, the answer is of course the carriage return bar of a mechanical typewriter. I suspect this type of knowledge will be gone in a couple more generations unless someone writes it down someplace...

Can't be bothered to write things down. I'll just text it to you, to preserve the knowledge.
