Too late. I went to the doctor today and he put me on a Z-pack.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I know. Next time there's a pandemic, I'll be to blame.

I don't think medicos should prescribe ABs unless there is a confirmed bacterial infection (meaning they will know which specific class of drug to use), or the patient might die if not.

If you decide to take the drugs, SB, just make sure you take the full course, otherwise you ARE increasing the likelihood of selecting drug resistance.

I'm amazed it happens any other way, these days. Of course, I've also seen docs passing money around in 'sterile' areas with gloves on not too long ago, so I take nothing for granted as far as heath care goes. We are full, participating partners in our health far as our docs go. The good ones seem to appreciate it, in my limited experience.

So, Vash, as a nurse would you tell off a doc who wasn't using proper sterile technique?

I haven't really seen problems with procedures actually requiring sterile technique, but general hand washing (or more specifically, the lack of) is a big problem in the hospitals (especially doctors), and I know I am supposed to say I would call them on it, but probably not (yet). In fact, most nurses just bite their tongue and look the other way. The doctors are well-known to be unappreciative about being reminded, and a lot of them can be rather nasty. We have an infection control specialist that we can report doctors to, and she is all too happy to confront the repeat offenders.

There are a couple of doctors with whom I have developed a closer relationship, and I might say something to them like "oh, you might want to wash up - I don't know if you remembered that this patient has c-diff.".

I am so glad I didn't do medicine. Ewww. Power to you, Vash, I mean it. I could never do your job.

    True.

Instead of taking antibiotic, TS should go for probiotic.. Get more healthy baterias to help fight for you.

I will take a small bottle of probiotic drink every evening before i sleep. Help to digest food that haven't break down in my body.
