Age difference, looking for legit thoughts

^^^Laws are laws. To say that an entire country is backward because of them is ignorant. I'll add that incest and bestiality is legal in Belgium, which says what about it? I think it says a lot, but notice how I didn't insult your entire country.

I see your point, but you didn't make it. Incest and bestiality are illegal here, and if they weren't I'd happily agree Belgium is a seriously backward country as well.





There are some other aspects of the USA that make it backward in my book, but that's a wholly different discussion.

From what I've read incest and bestiality are in fact legal there. Perhaps I have been misinformed by multiple sources, but it seems that you're simply trying to cover the obvious silliness of calling an entire country backward because of age difference laws while your own country's lack of laws is questionable. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is how it looks to me. From what I read it is not defined in the law as legal or illegal, thereby making it legal.


And don't get me wrong, I'm no flag waving patriot, but I absolutely hate when people make sweeping generalizations like you did. I absolutely disagree with many things about our society and government, but I wouldn't call the entire country backward.

kay thanks everyone for your input. I'll take the advice best I can. I know she's gonna go through changes as she gets older, everyone does, but i'm not gonna do anything that would make her feel different about me. If it happens naturally, so be it, I'll have to live with it.

As for the person who accused me as seeing the law as a "joke" and calling me immature for that. One, I never said it was a joke. The entire reason for me posting this is so I could get feedback from people and see if the relationship aspect of it would be worth bending the rules a bit. I don't think the law is a joke and YOU'RE immature for automatically jumping to conclusions.

Four years seems like a large age difference when you are young. As you get older, your group of friends and acquaintances changes to include a much wider age group. And you start realizing that four years is not that big of a difference after all.
For right now, just take it slow, remember where you are and where she is in your respective lives. Don't try to make her be "older" than she is and don't short-change yourself and try to be "younger" than you are. Just be open and honest with each other and let the situation play out naturally.
