It's not a matter of politeness. While you aren't required to be courteous, I think there is a certain amount of respect owed to a leader of a country that could become a threat to your own.

If I were the leader of a country and a foreign leader hated me so passionately, it would be my duty to understand why and try to subdue this hatred as much as possible.

My understanding is that he has no real power - he is just a figurehead, much like the president in Israel. Even his own people (largely) think he's crazy, and he is always at odds with the REAL power in Iran.

How can I care about some other countries like Iran if I probably never go there in my life ,when a husband and father of 3 burns himself out of desperation in front of Prime Minister office in my country,because no one wanted to listen to him when he was trying to reveal corruption at the tax office where he was employed ,instead he fell into personal and financial problems ...
