Talking Heads are one of my favorite artists! "Once in a Lifetime" is their opus.

If you have gone deeper then you would know Joy Division, The Members, Elton Motello, Iggy Pop, The Replacements, OMD, Ultravox, Alphaville,........newer stuff: Soviet, Fischerspooner.

Yup; I have Architecture and Morality, pretty good album and Joy Division was awesome. There's only one Iggy Pop track I really liked, I have The Replacements' "Let It Be" which I really like considering I don't like that kind of music generally.

Pet Shop Boys are one of my favorites, and I dig Squeeze too.

I liked Love Over Gold back in the day. Saw Dire Straits live once....had to have been the most boring concert ever. I was expecting magic, but I nodded off.

You like Mellencamp? How do you cope with the not infrequent inclusion of an acoustic guitar in his songs?

It all comes together on his albums so perfectly; he's Bruce Springsteen lite which is good because sometimes Boss' portraits of 'Murrican life are too depressing..

No way; Petty sucked live, too? You must have unfortunate timing in concert, because I've heard that Petty and the Heartbreakers are phenomenal (they also totally owned once on SNL, I heard).
