Messed up big time...what to do now?

So I thought I would bite the bullet and just send her a general message asking how she is etc. Got a reply straight away. I feel tho that I am back to square 1 with her. Do you think she would have replied if she was still not interested?

She hardly ever sends me any messages without me initiating it, is this normal? or are some girls just like this?

I don't think she's interested in you in a romantic sense. She probably replied out of courtesy.

If you want to be 100% sure about this, ask her out on a date. Something like: "I realized I've never actually asked you out on a date... Shame on me :-P! So, how about dinner tomorrow? I know a nice cozy restaurant in town... pick you up tomorrow at 7 :-)?"

But those weren't dates... not romantic dates. She didn't yet know that you were romantically interested in her.

Be more explicit then, say something like: "I keep thinking about you, I guess I really like you a lot, and not just as a friend :-). How about we go on an actual date? Flowers and hand-holding and everything? Pick you up tomorrow at 7? Dinner is on me :-)"
