Yes, but they don't present finger bowls between courses in L.A., as they ALWAYS do with meals in civilized places like....uh...(let me thinK)....BIRMINGHAM, Alabama.

Maybe they give you all finger bowls because you don't know how to use utensils in Alabama, and have to use your fingers...

Oh yeah - collard greens and black-eyed peas! And I hear they even fry their lettuce in the South. I don't know HOW we live without that in LA...

Some of the best collard greens and black-eyed peas I've ever had was in Los Angeles.

    That was beautiful.

Though when I was in LA, I couldn't help but notice the self segregation the city was divided into.

The city is segregated, but more by socioeconomic class than race.

Initially I thought the city was very diverse, but while I was there, (in a predominantly asian section) they took me for a ride and while we were on the highway they were pointing out sections of the city that belonged to this or that people.

Kinda sickened me how close they all were.

    Here's the deal....

After spending most of my life in Los Angeles, I recently moved to the South on the Gulf of Mexico. Life is good. Cheap real estate, bought a nice house for 1/3 of what I was paying in rent in Hollywood, the people are friendly, no traffic, fresh seafood at a reasonable price, little or no crime, I could go on and on....

I've 'met' two beautiful Southern Belles. OK, online, one that was/is doing some programing work for me, another on Match.com. Both seem very interested but I've still got that L.A. attitude of 'don't come on too strong, all women want a challenge.' Guess it comes from being around Sunset Strip bimbos for years.

Are Southern women different? Do they want/expect a man to come on a little strong ? (Not sexually, just dating wise) Everything seems so much more simple and less complicated down here, no games. A different mentality with everybody from the corner grocer to the local bank. What you see is what you get. I wonder if it's the same with dating?

I know it's a vague question, but any input is appreciated.

    Thanks

K, here is how it goes. southern girls were brought up to believe that they are to be chased. You know do not come on too strong, but let them know that you are into them definitely. The whole paying for them, opening their door, yeah we like that just as any girl would. All it really comes down to is that you show affection to us, but not too much affection. I hope this helps out. We also like to discuss things sometimes, too much. Over analyzing and getting serious way too fast are often faults of a southern gal.

(puzzled) What sickened you? I mean, would you prefer they built fences around each neighborhood?

And really - that swastika has GOT to go!

shh!, yes. the swastika is annoying, but i think that's fras's point. and: do you really believe there's a meaningful difference between socioeconomic and racial segregation?
