I disagree because your post seems to imply this dichotomy that intrinsically good people are devoid of psychological problems..

Then we get into the realms of those who take responsibility for their actions and try to make things better.

I'm thinking of an example of good person now has psychiatric problems but refuses to take responsibility for their actions or seek help. While I don't want to label them as bad, I would say that I would purge them from my life.

If that same person took responsibility and sought help, then I'd be more likely to forgive them ...though I can't promise that I would reconcile because it would also depend on what they did to me and how much I previously liked them.

Why can't a person with problems be self-accountable? I don't see why some wouldn't. I could see pathological persons who fail to hold themselves responsible but I don't see why everyone who's batshit insane has to necessarily be a bad person.
