She's saying those things to try and keep you in her back pocket if things don't end up working out with this new guy. Like I said she is lonely and desperate......she is still looking out for her own best interest.

Ya what you say makes sense, I feel like if that is the case she doesn't fully believe in the relationship she is currently in. And If thats the case being a rebound, its most likely be doomed to fail.

Yes and it's possible when it's starts to falter she will have her feelers out looking for someone else to latch onto.
