    Wow, come to think of it, I have no idea why I started this thread, but I think that we're on to something here. Cyborg - You mention that you and your girlfriend split on dates and stuff like that. Optimally speaking, that's awesome. Unfortunately, I was raised with the idea that the man is always supposed to pay no matter what if it is a date. However, recently, I've been finding that I'd rather spend less money on a date and spend more money on my toys. Damnit, call me greedy or selfish, but I like my toys! Regardless, I find myself shelling out 50 bucks per date. Ah well, I think that my best solution to this problem would be to stop going out with the high maintenance chicks.

    Poor Tone, but you still can't ask clynn if she needs a place to live...
    I'm saving you for my daughter when she is allowed to date in 18 years.

    It's okay, my roommates would probably drive her as crazy as they do me with them not ever just rinsing off their plates or bowls.

    Why, clynn? Don't you rinse off your plates and bowls?

    I hate to break it to you, but 50$ isn't that much for a date. A nomal decent dinner at a restaraunt and a movie, you are looking at more like 70$. Add an icecream at the end and a couple flowers, and youve just unloaded 100$.

    I can spend 50 at olive garden and 2 drinks. I don't think that is very much money at all... but I do agree it has nothing to do with money, rather the value of the company and the fun.

    I'm sure someone's already said it, but there are myriad ways to enjoy each other's company without having to spend a lot of money. If there's continuous pressure from either quarter for that to happen, I'd say something about the relationship is off and needs to be talked about. Sometimes, people try to do more than they need to because they believe "that's how it's done." Other times, some people really DO have a deep-seeded need that some others just can't meet, however hard they try to.
    Speak less. Say more.

    Spend 500 dollars for a date and don't get a kiss even!
    Don't expect anything.

    Call me old fashioned, but I believe in and like paying for a girl on a date. Just as I open doors, stand when they come to/leave a table, help with jacket etc.

    if I were a girl and the man didn't pay for the date, at least the first few, I'd be sceptical.

    As far as how much, it depends on what you're doing and how long you've been with them. I'd say expect nothing less than $50 and up to $500 depending on what you have in mind. Keep in mind, I lived in NY for awhile and prices there are pretty outrageous.

    Wow, Lloyd, I'm liking you better all the time, but $500 is too much for someone you aren't serious about. Even in NY.

    It depends. Say dinner and a show:
    Dinner=$150 with wine/drinks and a tip
    Show=$250
    Drinks after=$ $50-$100 @ $8-$10 each.

    Goes fast up there I tell ya.

    I think you should skip the shows and stick with movies until you are sure you like her...
