if anybody had the audacity to go after obama they better hope they die too because people a lot more dangerous than some skinny, white republican in a uniform would be after that person.

    Landslide victory? Come on now..

    Popular vote:

    46% McCain
    51% Obama

    Electoral college:

    162 McCain
    349 Obama

Outdated ass system.. This country has a few more people then it did in 1776 and it needs to be tweaked..

Doesn't really matter, half the country already doesn't like him, give him 6 months, everybody else will, too..

i used to diss on the elector college too but i see it's point.

if we went just by the popular vote small towns would be ignored. people would campaign in new york and california and anything in between would be left out. large metropolis's would pop up everywhere just to have a say in the government.

the popular vote will always be half and half. because we're pinned against each other. we have to keep separated!

I think he meant that it just needs to be updated.

Look at Bush's victories. They were as close as could be. Given the last two elections this was a landslide victory. Hell, Bush didn't even have the popular vote the first time around.

Aww, don't cry. I am glad he won; I just couldn't endorse him. I didn't vote for McCain either (shudder).

Anyway, big news in California... prop 8 passed. How disappointing! Ironically, the black voters turned out en masse to vote for Obama, a high point for a people who have been historically oppressed and denied civil rights. However, black voters came out strongly against civil rights for homosexual couples, and were apparently (according to media reports) responsible for it passing.

It doesn't surprise me. Hypocrisy is the name of the game. It's a never ending cycle.

Who is surprised about Prop 8 considering minorities are a relatively religious population?

Sad day, but at least it was a state decision, marriage should never be a federal decision.

Oh, it isn't over yet... this will ultimately end up in the Supreme Court. We have 18,000 homesexual couples already married in California, and their marriages are still considered valid.

Misombra - I'm not sure what constitutes a landslide, but this measure passed with 52% in favor, 48% opposed.

i think marriage should be the church's decision. that prop being on the ballot was government encroaching upon the church.

What? You haven't even been here. Only ones that are tearing each others throats are our neighbors from the east. Besides, what bad did I say about America now? You people are way too uptight imho.
