My best friend got FriendZoned two weeks ago, by a shy girl that he has been pursuing for the last four months. It took him most of those four months to finally get a date with her, and then the date wasn't good. She told him, "I like getting together with you, but I feel like just hanging out as friends." That's the exact quote from the email that he forwarded to me.
It's obvious Friend Zone, right? But since then, he has pestered me to give him advice about how to change her mind. I tried to tell him what I always tell Friend Zone dwellers here at LF, but he insisted that he's not going to give up yet. He sent her a friendly email emphasizing how special she is, and he is going to call her up next week to ask her out again. He claims that he will give up if she turns him down again. I also recommended that he seek advice here, but he said "I will consider it," which is Minnesotan for "I'm not going to do it, but I want to seem agreeable."
Maybe this makes me a bad friend, but I'm going to tell him that I probably can't help him with this situation, because it really annoys me when somebody looks at a stone cold fact and then deludes himself into seeing what he wants to see.
Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions.
It's typical male behavior. I'm guilty of it too.
I gave my g/f of 4 years an ultimatum, it she won't date me, she can't be friends with me.
It crushed her.
Fortunately she caved (days later) before I had an opportunity to tell her I changed my mind.
I had never experienced such heartache in my entire life, I wanted to die, I figured anything was better than nothing.
I guess we're just wired to try to take anything we can get.
No, this was pre-dating. We were on the same AmeriCorps team and towards the end we kind of had a fling (non sexual), I wanted to continue dating her but there were a lot of reasons why it wasn't going to work. That's why she just wanted to "be friends", I was all like, "hell naw".
It was all a facade, looking back.
Fake it til you make it.
Everything.
An 83 year old woman (who is probably a foot shorter than me and has dementia) threatened to kick my ass, and then tried to break my thumb.
I can't decide if this belongs in the "what you enjoyed" or "what annoyed you" thread.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?
Yes, at work. She was my patient, and she was mad that I wouldn't let her keep her own medication bedside. She had dementia and had already been medicated (it's also against hospital policy.) when I picked up her bag of meds and told her we'd store them in the pharmacy, she grabbed my forearm with one hand, and my thumb with the other, and shouted up at me " you might be bigger than me, but I can hurt you", and then she tried bending my thumb backwards. lol
I told her I would have to restrain her if she wouldn't stop. Then I gave her a dose of ativan, and she was asleep an hour later.![]()

Why you gotta pick on little old ladies with dementia, Vash......
HAH! She was trying to take me down! Crazy old woman... The funny thing was, one of her doctors was convinced she was completely normal (mentally).

People working at my university administration are ****ING IDIOTS. Well, thank God, there was one to call me and inform me on time about their stupidity.

My acne is now officially returning....
I was on accutane for 6 months of hell, COMPLETELY eliminated acne, been off for about 3 months and nothing until this last week. Got one little whitehead about a week ago and now I have 3. Can't tell you how upset I am, I've gained so much confidence from not having acne.
Not sure what to do at this point. I haven't been using a special acne wash just a normal oil-free face wash, so I guess I'll go get an acne one. **** **** ****.
