Nope never so she can never throw that in my face and I dont owe her a thing.

Even if she brought up the "I've done this and that for you" shit I guarantee my family can blow her out the water. We could make a book with the shit we've done for her.

I've watched her two youngest kids before. That's when I was not working or doing anything so I would watch them and give her a break. She doesnt do anything. I am now working and on the verge of a family of four. I dont have time to watch her kids now.

Then forget about, don't let her make you feel guilty and upset. You work, you are pregnant and you have to take care of your little one as well. You need as much rest as you can get. Fuk her!

I worked over the holiday weekend, 20 hours. I then worked 12+ hours each day tues-thur and left work all of 1 hour early today, exhausted, only I had to hump a 12 lb box of beef my wife had flown in from Iowa for my birthday 1 mile to the dealership because I hit a pothole and bent my ****ing rim on the way into work.

And my boss said pretty much nothing to me about all the hours and effort I put in this week for the game launch. Oh, and my mother-in-law is here ranting about political crap she knows nothing about.
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

    How come?

How come internet is choked with articles that describe how to fight depression, but is completely silent on articles that describe how to fight personal vanity?

Because there's nothing wrong with personal vanity. One need not feel ashamed for thinking highly of oneself. It's unfortunate that this humility bullshit has spread like wildfire. Although I suppose for the powerful to have power they must stand atop the slumped shoulders of the weak and the wretched, so perhaps it's for the best.

Tell me, what's so good about having a false perception of yourself? Thinking you are grander than you really are, that you are something you are not and trying to convince others in that? What's so good about not taking responsibility for your actions because you see yourself as flawless and thus everything is someone else's fault? I don't see any benefits (personal or otherwise) in being vain. Vanity doesn't allow you to learn or to grow. Vanity favours image over substance, it's utterly false.

Vanity has nothing to do with confidence. Confidence is usually learned, because it needs to be tested. Vanity arises out of one feeling better than others, but never over a tested reason. Humility on the contrary does not need to be self-depreciating. It is simply an awareness of self, your personal short-comings, which usually turn out to be inner strengths if manifested correctly.

I disagree. Humility comes in one of two flavors. On the one hand you've got the truly pathetic ditch digging refuse that will never amount to anything. Humility is a construct that makes it slightly easier for them to accept their low lot in life.

On the other hand you've got the hypocrites. Not just any hypocrites, though. Excessively cheap hypocrites. Instead of donating a few bucks now and then to some cause or another they simply put on a meek act to make themselves feel and appear good.

What a crock. At least vanity is honest. Who but the sorriest sod isn't at least secretly vain? If you don't think you're damn good at this or that or damn good looking you're either lying or spineless. I don't have time for liars or hypocrites. I have to deal with them every single day at work. I won't deal with them at home. Hence I prefer my friends be full of themselves.

And what the hell is confidence but vanity with backing? You don't make it in life by being humble. You make it by thinking you're the best mother ****er ever walked the Earth and then you set out to prove it. Truth is you all just don't like lazy folks and failures.

What's honest about believing that you are something you are not? Is it honest to sell yourself to others as stronger, greater, better than you really are? Don't you think it's being deceptive?

It's only vanity if you believe you are the best and don't do anything about it except for believing it and deceiving others into believing it as well. If you actually set out to be the best in something and then prove it with your actions by for example winning in a competition then that's not being vain, that's being self confident and true to your ideals.

This has nothing to do with Religion by the way.

Who but the pathetic don't believe they are stronger, greater, better than they really are? That's what I'm getting at. The dishonest will say otherwise because of the image they seek. For better or for worse it's human psychology. Unless something is wrong with you, you think damn highly of yourself, justified or not.

Who doesn't enter a competition thinking they will dominate and walk away victorious? Losers, that's who.

There are quite a few people who believe in being something they aren't, just like many people tell lies or hurt people they love. But it's not exactly something you want to encourage? People mainly consider these as flaws and seek to improve and self develope not become even vainer and live in even greater self denial.

Hence my disappointment that there aren't any resources that actually help with this. The way I see it vanity is even worse than depression by amount of damage it does yet if you want to defeat it inside you there are very few resources that can help you.

A vain person wouldn't enter a competition because they might lose. They would pretend they won it already.
