I don't think you should be worried. His uncle could have been joking. Nothing serious is happening yet so don't think too much of his family. When you decide to marry him, then you can take his family values into consideration. Right now, whether you worry or not, things aren't going to change. Just enjoy what you have now.

I never understood though the need to not have sex until marriage. I have found that this does lead to some regrets later on in life (Some are intense enough to destroy relationships) and I'm not sure if it's the best practice to follow.
