A good thing about how they do it in Amsterdam is that technically it is still illegal, but tolerated within their coffee shops (read: controlled environment - supervised and out of harm's way) and banned from sale to foreign tourists whose sole intention is to do crazy shit.

I've been to Amerstdam a few times. TBH I think it'd be a much better place without the red light district and the coffee shops.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.

We need to do whats best for us when it comes to drug policy, and that's keeping seriously addictive and destructive drugs like heroin and crystal meth illegal. Pot should be legalized though.
People are still going to want those drugs, whether they're legal or not. If they were legal, at least we wouldn't have close family members clogging up our prisons, because of a habit they can't shake. Putting them in jail for a bit, only so they can be released so they can return right back to that habit, sounds retarded.
It just kinda seems morbidly stupid to give a murderer the same amount of time spent in jail as lets say, a drug user or a drug pusher.

You would be surprised how much damage one drug addict can do to the people around her, especially if she has kids. A drug dealer is even worse, making drugs available to so many addicts.

It can also be a he. Both my father and my brother have done some real damage to my family. My dad tore my immediate family apart, and my brother has torn the rest of our family. I'm sick of being told things like "I wish they could have been more like you", because I blame myself for all of it. Every week I get calls from various family members talking about my brother and what a worthless piece of shit he is. I have to listen to my mom cry on the phone about all of it... so much regret, so many mistakes... and what can I do, besides grow numb to the pain that it causes me?

drugs being illegal did not help vinnys ex-girlfriend or lilwangs brother.

i agree that drug addicts bring a lot of misery to friends and family members. i had a good friend who was a complete alcoholic. i hated it. but the fact of the matter is that because drugs are illegal, innocent lives are being lost. people are actually being killed. innocent people.

You can't say that. You don't know much about the situation.

If drugs were legal, he would be in way more trouble now. Don't you know? He's dating a heroin addict. If drug laws didn't regulate his probation, he'd be shooting up right now. He has problems with that shit. Probation has given him a more stable life. If all the rules and regulations disappeared, he would fail, and our support would be meaningless.

If we were born in test tubes and nobody was responsible or gave a damn about us unconditionally, sure, I'd be all for legalizing all different kinds of drugs and shit. But in reality, everybody else pays for their mistakes. You can say "Nobody should tell me what I can/can't do to my body" until your blue in the face, but it doesn't change the facts: someone else will have to clean up that mess, and it's usually someone who gives a damn, who pays for it in blood, sweat, and tears.

Ask your grandfather about loss sometime.

my grandfathers are dead. one of them survived the bataan death march and 3 and a half years in a japanese pow camp in wwii. he lost his friends to illness and extreme brutality and starvation.

he would think that war causes far more problems than certain people who want to shoot up drugs.

War does cause more problems. I'm not making a comparison here. I'm just saying that drugs still cause problems. People just want to ignore that and have a good time, though. Ignorance is bliss, right?

Oh yeah, cause drug dealers only sell addictive drugs. We have never known a man to sell only pot or ecstasy >:|
