Your link is about Canada *the country*. I am speaking to Vancouver, Canada the region.
There are at least 2 other posters here from the area who can confirm what I say. For your 3 people, I can list a dozen who moved b/c of the job situation and cost of living.
The OP asked for informed opinions. I've lived in the lower mainland for more than a decade as well as other regions of Canada, the US and in the world. The only place I've lived that is comparable in high cost is NYC, as I said, and parts of Australia.
The climate here is beautiful, no question. But there is a high cost to pay for young people choosing to move here. Its not a place to come and develop a career unless you have secured a job first. Even then, there are 2-income university faculty who are shocked to learn the home their combined household income will buy them.
Shrug.

Oh, no that link was just for Michelle to look at to see others places in the world that are listed as most desirable to live. Sorry for the confusion.
On topic of BC, that is the only place other than where I am from that I would love to live in Canada. Wonder if Michelle gave up on moving countries?

I'd live in Australia in a heartbeat. Gorgeous country and great people.

I think its the need to deal with a harsh climate for an extended period of months. Makes you resilient. Aussies have their heat and bush fires, we have our brutal winters.
