Yes, sort of. And if you count nursing, PAs, and nurse practitioners, the numbers are ridiculously skewed.

Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Vashti didn't cite any sources, I didn't think it was necessary.

I looked at enrollment figures from the AAMC.org, so I imagine it is just the US. Should we take into account that Canada's population is roughly 1/10 of the US?? In 2011, Canada had 72,500 doctors, compared with the 2012 number I found in the US of 878,000. Also WakeUp, the article you posted echoed what I said about surgeons. Perhaps one day it will be a female dominated field, which I'm fine with, but to say it is now just isn't true. Take a look at the department chair numbers in the last article here. I agree with you ladies, that the OP is retarded, and his girlfriend is probably a very smart girl, save her choice in dating.

I already said we're excluding caregivers, because while absolutely critical to healthcare, those folks do not dominate the field. We are talking about industry leaders aka physicians and surgeons, the people at the top. Sure a PA might have a Master's, but they're not going to be published in any medical journals. I'm talking about people who will push medicine forward. Looking at the stats, and percentage increases, I'd say increasingly they will be women. However, I don't think you dominate a field and push it forward, by working part time, which is what two of the articles that you two have posted say will dramatically increase as the female work force increases.
