Yes it is sad....I agree. And its not right....but its also not right to let people sit there for days in hot weather...and water(as hot as bath water) surrounding everything, no food, no drinking water.....with bodies floating around ....and not send help from other areas. I think the morale would be low too if I was in that situation.
ITs especially sad because everyone knew how fast the storm was coming.....and that it was predicted to be VERY strong......and yet help was delayed. The president had to "check things out" before sending any real aide.

Ugh. I can't stand that 'every man for himself' attitude. It's disgusting, especially from people who are supposed to be there to help and protect you. I wonder why it is that the policeman and firefighters of New Orleans abandoned their fellow citizens in time of crisis, while the NYPD and NYFD jumped into burning buildings and risked (or even lost) their lives trying to save people? Ridiculous.

And yes, Bush DOES look like a fidgety teenager when he gets up to make speeches. He is outwardly and inwardly the most incompetent leader you've ever had (Clinton was better). Why is he always on bloody vacation when there's a crisis going down?

Yes I agree. Clinton was better. So who cares if he slept with someone? They all did. He did alot for our country and you could just see the look of disappointment on his face when Bush gave his speech. At least he didn't neglect his responsibilities as a leader when he was president (Even if sex was involved) Bush....... Vacationing many times a year and walking away from responsibility is alot worse....

As for the police and fire dept backing down from helping down in New Orleans....yeah that was wrong of them. THey should have looked out for each other...but didn't. I think it might have something to do with the crime that was taking place....the chaos. WE weren't there so really we don't know. But still there are other people from other areas that could help. But they didn't come right away....so I can see how it could be fustrating.

Yeah, he helped plan it so he could find a way to blame it on North Korea and then he could go bomb their ass.

Um, no offense...but there was plenty of looting on 9/11. Several reports went through the wire days after.

I think someone has invented a weather controlling device and has been tweaking it whilst trying to destroy our southeast coasts with hurricanes. Not really but it does seem like mother nature has some kinda bug up her ass.

No, he won't bomb North Korea, they have no oil.

Um no, not really; I was there that day, 9-11 and the days after. I think for New Yorkers especially, they acted very appropriately.

I wasn't comparing, I was just getting the facts straight. As tragic as 9/11 was...nobody can argue the fact that damage wise...katrina is far worse. I can understand why a good natured person would do so, surviving. But a thug, or a police officer (as I believe you said) has no right, or reason to even try such a thing.

It really is a mess down there....

If I were President, Lilwing, your life as a "bi" and my finacial life would be sooo much better, believe me. The only problem, is getting elected, as I don't believe in these Big Businesses, or any in that matter, funding campaigns.

Oh, and the issue of "naturalization".

Could y'all picture Shh! as First lady?

I'm not saying they did, Most acted like a real person should of in such a time... but you didn't see everything...I mean how could you? I don't have time to dig out the old reports from cnn, but believe me...there was plenty reports of looting, although not NEARLY the level as N.O.

If there's an issue with food and drinking water, looting grocery stores would be entirely appropriate. Jewelry, shoes and electronics? Another thing entirely, absolutely ridiculous.
