Online IQ tests are a joke. Everyone I know who takes them is a genius. As for women being smarter, I highly doubt it. Research indicates the cleverest people are more likely to be male. An analysis of IQ scores shows men tend to be more heavily represented at both extremes of the distribution. Women's IQ scores are more closely clustered around the mean. Therefore, men outnumber women at very low and very high levels of intelligence.

I think you missed the point of my post Tone. I'm not saying b/c I'm male that automatically makes me smarter than a girl. Numerous research shows men's IQ is represented more heavily at both extremes while women's intelligence is clustered around the center. You can try to find evidence that suggests otherwise. This does not mean that a person who is smarter than avg must be a man. I was merely providing evidence that contrasts with the predominant views in this thread.

Actually, men tend to score better in math and science and women tend to score better on lanquage and cognitive skills. But the difference may be in the way they are brought up rather than rooted in any biological factor. Boys and girls are raised differently, interact differently and so on. Girls sit around and chat, while guys compete in sports or games, so it figures that women would have better language skills. Most girls are also discouraged from persuing math and science while boys are encouraged to persue them. This isn't an absolute of course and there are women scientists, engineers and such. The person with the highest IQ thus far is Marilyn Vos Savant: a woman.

You don't know the type of people they are selecting for that test, you don't even know if they're tellin the truth... it's just dumb to argue "Well this test showed that men are usually smarter than women..." Who cares, all that prooves is those certain individuals were smarter than the other individuals.

Therefore, the avg IQ of men is roughly equal to the avg IQ of women. Here's an example that might help explain. Imagine 10 men and 10 women took an IQ test.

The scores for men are: 1, 2, 2, 3, 5, 5, 7, 8, 8, 9
The scores for women are: 2, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 8

If you took the avg score of both sexes, you get an IQ of 5. Make sense now? Don't worry, I'm not offended. It's hard to get offended when the other person doesn't know what their talking about. And I'm not trying to argue with anyone here. I saw people spouting their mouths who are misinformed. I wanted to set the record straight if that's alright with you.

yea , havent any of you ever noticed for example : in HS , most guys were either the idiots always doing stupid things , and then you had the ""geeks"" that always popped a 90 % on tests ...theres also the in-betweens , but it was mostly those 2 (idiots, geeks) that are around ...you dont usually see a girl doing such dumb things as guys , but you dont see them winning the smartest person in class award as often as the ""geeks"" ...

Diablo, William James Sidis is recognized as the greatest modern genius with an adjusted adult IQ above 200 (250-300 raw). Marilyn Vos Savant has an adult IQ of 185 (220-230 raw). The problem with such high IQ scores is there is no way to accurately measure them. Anything beyond 200 is considered immeasurable. The distinction for greatest universal genius of all time belongs to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with a predicted adult IQ of 210 (including adjustment). He lived at a time when IQ tests weren't availabe. Since testing began, 2 of the 3 highest IQs in history belong to men.
