^^^ or better yet, a really, good neurology team. I take it he's already had EEGs, MRIs and CT scans?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

I am fed up with how my cousin is swindling my brother - they agreed on rent of $150/month when he moved there last year and she started charging him $350/month with all kinds of bullshit excuses... this "bedroom" he has been paying $350 a month for is a closet-sized room that won't even fit a queen-sized bed! Now he's broke, meanwhile the selfish bitch is making a $110k salary and she's going to gamble his rent money away over Easter break in Las Vegas. She's profiteering off his student loans and now he doesn't have enough to make ends meet. He can't get a job because he was convicted of a felony.

My aunt and uncle are pissed off at her, too. They loaned her $50k to get a new vehicle and let's say she's not been very responsible regarding repayment. I hope the greedy cunt gets what's coming for her... it's a good thing my brother is moving out and getting a single bedroom apartment. He should have done this months ago. I'm amazed, that during all this time he has not violated his drug probation.

8 MONTHS? Oh my god, that's absurd!

You know, it's occurred to me that if I lived in a country with socialized medicine, my daughter would never get the treatment she needs to be cured. I must remember this every single time someone complains about the American healthcare system.

Well, we do have private hospitals too... having a healthcare system doesn't mean you don't have private hospitals if you want to get attended quicker.

Yep, i cant fault the national health service, they have been absolutely fantastic with my son, its enabled him to be seen by some of the top surgeons in this country, he has recieved nothing but the best treatment available, in a very short space of time.

so, you can pay extra to have US-style health insurance, so you can be treated in a timely manner?

I wonder what portion of the expense they would pay of my daughter's current testing. Right now, it's cost about $100,000, and she hasn't even had the surgery yet.

I'm not the best person to talk about this, since I don't usually go to hospitals and the like, but I'll tell you what I know.

The public healthcare system here is sustained by normal taxes, and everyone who lives here is theoretically covered by it, but there's some treatments (like psychiatrists for most cases if you are over 16, I believe) that aren't covered by the public healthcare. It isn't really that slow, most things are attended relatively quickly, but because of people misusing it and "overloading" hospitals, they have to prioritize some people/treatments to others, for instance, my father had knee surgery, and had to wait about 6 months to get the surgery (although I believe in this case, they may have made it take a while longer because they directly told him he had to lose weight for the surgery). For other stuff like a echocardiogram or other tests and treatments I've had to take it didn't take longer than a week.

The thing is there's also private hospitals you can go to if you want to get treated (quite often the public healthcare system subcontracts these without the patient having to pay anything extra), and many people pay for health insurances that cover the private treatments. These don't have issues with having too many people on the wait list, so they are generally quicker for non-critical treatments and the like.

I believe most of the problems with the public healthcare system would disappear if people had a little of education and didn't go to the hospital because they have mucus (seriously, this happens all the time, I'm not exaggerating), but then again, the education and respect of spaniards in general is pretty crappy for some strange reason..

Believe me, I know. Lots of people use emergency rooms over here as primary care physicians. Those are the people you hear about who complain that they had to wait 6 hours to be seen. umm... yeah! that's because people with genuine emergencies are being seen first!
