not everybody can have great lyrics. if it were that easy then all these famous songwriters wouldn't be so great. not everybody can be carol king...

I completely agree misombra, and there are a lot of terrible lyrics out there....but there are far far worse out there then that of say "immortal". In which I find myself liking the original much better(Voice, Piano, Violin...thats it), then the cheesy rock remake they put out for the radio/mtv.

but i will agree that today's music lacks in lyrical quality to a particularly large extent.

That's cause in today's fast society, it's more about rhythm then anything. But there are a fast amount of growing artists that give music the credit it deserves.

Then again as well, with each generation...they are naturally going to like what was because it is what they grew up with. Just like my generation will prob. laugh 10-15 years down the road. Although I'm an extremely verstile music listener...so I give almost anything a shot.

i don't know about that inno... my favorite music is the kind that came before me. i will admit that the music i grew up with didn't have much lyrical content either. anyway i won't argue because everyone has their own opinion...

i just think that it's not easy to write really great lyrics that can reach people deep down you know?

but at least people can try. just for an example i'll give you some lyrics from an avril levign (or whatever) song...

let's talk this over it's not like we're dead
is it something i did is it something you said
don't leave me hangin in a city so dead
    something something something something

come on people, we CAN and should have better standards here don't you think?

'Cept I like all the songs that come on.
