You can get HIV everywhere now, saying that is mainly through gay,bi,anal sex and drugs is stupid . After stupid people think that if they are in hetero relationship or have hetero sex or actually do nothing, that they are safe from it. You can get it even through a visit at the dentist . I guess the "other" category covers your dentists....

So, regardless of drug use behavior, what proportion of HIV transmission cases in 2009 were associated with homosexual anal? Nearly 60 percent. According to the webpage, 3 out of every 4 cases involves adolosecent or adult males. The hetero contact for women who get is probably because their man sex partners are either bisexual or drug users. And drug users usually get it because they have homosexual sex (as male prostitutes or otherwise). Ultimately, it all traces back to anal sex; but still the random odds of getting it are very slim.

In the US at least, part of the reason that we still talk on and on about this is because HIV represents a huge bucketload of government cash--through CDC and HHS (among others) for research scientists, drug companies, and otherwise. In short, your anal sex is the basis of an industry. All is not so bad, of course, since we use HIV education and treatment to make new friends in African and across the globe...it is called "soft diplomacy." That way we can get a crack (no pun intended) at Africa's other goodies, like raw materials and markets for "our" products (resale of Chinese goods, US made military equipment, etc). In essence, we fix their holes and they let dig holes (looking for strategic minerals, like oil).

Either way, it stinks.
