Well, let's see. Based on the info she gave us, she left her dad's house when she was in the 5th or 6th grade because he didn't have a place to live. (That would have been a few years ago.) She went on to say the reason she doesn't want to live with him is because her friends aren't nearby - not because he won't have her. It appears that the foster parents were the abusive ones, although the last sentence of her 1st paragraph is a little unclear.

This situation hardly compares to the starving kids in Africa. The kids in Africa have little choice in their destiny, and this girl can change hers by making good choices, although she admittedly has a tough road.
Shh!, from what I understood her dad simply got rid of her due to his divorce at the time because she was an inconvenience, never wanted her back and she had no choice in the matter "we only had 4 hours to get all our stuff out of the house, and so my dad called my mom and joe my moms husbend to come and pick my brothers and I up and so they did and i have been living with them ever since. ". But maybe I am missing something...

It's just, it's very easy to forget what it was like back at that age (Especially for people like us with jobs, social skills, warm cushions and various degrees of autonomy), but I remember myself when I was 12-14 and really those were the hardest years of my life (And my family wasn't even abusive in any way). I just kinda feel sorry for the kid. And if she's not telling the truth than I feel for any kid out there in the similar situation who maybe reading this thread for advice in the future.

I guess I interpreted it differently. It looks to me like like the step mom booted them all out because she was divorcing dad, thus making dad a candidate for a better living arrangement.

Under those circumstances, I say my advice is good. And trust me, I have LOTS of experience with this age group. Not only do I have children in this age range, I have been a 14 year old girl from an extremely troubled home.

That's exactly how I interpreted it as well Shh. I do think if this is the case, then she needs to contact her father or another family member regarding this.

But her dad knew she was in a foster home because of her mother (Place where he took them from in the first place). It looks to me like he sent her and her borthers back into the meat grinder and never looked back...

It may seem like it's very easy for a kid to find a new home at the age of 14, but really it's not when noone wants you. But who am I to argue, I don't even have an advice to give her (So, punish me for that)

I still think someone should intervine in this siituation. A 14yr old can't handle these things on their own. Which is why I suggested before the whole therapist deal that she said her mom wanted her to do anyways. This way she could tell that therapist whats' going on and they can intervine and try and help her not only with this but all the other issues she has as well. She really does need help on a lot of things here.

Leah - I had another thought - you mentioned that you went to church. If you are a regularly attending church girl, you might want to speak to your minister/pastor/priest/whatever about this issue. They are in the business of providing social services or at least should have access to some contacts who can help you. But only do this if you sincerely wish to fix the problem and are willing to make whatever sacrifice is necessary to do so.

You could be, if you lied about your name and lived with or knew someone who looked like you to come take pictures for you. Ew that sounds gross in my mind lol.
