Silly GS, lol. You really haven't got it figured yet, have you?

You want an equal but yet... you don't. Interesting problem you have.

For the record (and the reading impaired), I support prenups (said so bluntly in another recent thread) and also renewable marriage contracts.

Thanks.., the cover is tarnished through all these years.., it's such an old book.., could barely make out the Title.., let alone the name.. but yes.., that's in fact his proper name..

Well.., i'd like an equal in certain things.., and in those very important things (attitude towards love.., love for eachother.., respect for eachother.., family values.., raising children.., financial management.., sex).., and in those things.., I want a complete equal.., I have yet to find one.., but i'm not willing to bend the slightest bit..

There are obviously other categories which are less important to me.., but are still important in an overall sense.., (education.., career.., goals.., social circle.., interests.., character.., personality.., personal growth.., personal development.., outlook on life).., and in those things.., I want a somewhat complete match.., they don't really have to be my equal.., that would be crazy.., and not fun for anyone.., really.., I don't think I could be in a relationship with myself.., we would just nod in agreement all the time.., and then fight over who would cook.., no thanks.., these are things i'm willing to compromise on and accept a wider variety of.., I've found many wonderful people who've more than satisfied my needs and wants in this category.., but didn't satisfy the higher and more important needs and wants..

Then there are things I really don't care much about.., I would be willing to bend significantly and compromise fully (more like fully accept or give in to).., for as long as my higher needs & wants are met.. these things are not very important to me.., things like.., (favorite colors.., political views.., religion.., nationalist views.., favorite tv shows.., hobbies.., favorite foods.., etc).., i'm very very flexible and adaptable in that sense.., i've gone to a mosque when I was dating a muslim girl.., i've gone to a temple with my indian ex.., with her family.., i've learned to cook italian, french, and indian food all because of my exes.., i've been rock climbing.., gone to art shows.., went to concerts.., you name it.., I was never into any of the things i'm into now or have done in my life.., but it's because i'm not the type of person to say something retarded like (oh.., i'm not that kind of person.., I don't do those things.., I don't like those things.., blah blah blah).., life is short.., chillax.., and try new things.., if i'm not that type of person.., but my partner is.., then I become that type of person.., very quickly.., because it's not that important to me.., I don't really have anything I feel too strongly about to say.., (no.., I don't like that! we're doing this! what I want!).., all these little things are immaterial and really don't matter much..

So yes.., I want someone equal.., yet someone not equal to me.., I think we all do.. I don't feel i'm the only one who wants that..

    Best,

    GrkScorp

BD.., stop giving Indi heat because she corrected a mistake.., That's the authors real name.., and she's right.., and it's good she corrected me so the guy can find the right book by the right author.., there's no reason to make it into anything more than what it is.., I think lilwing was just joking with you on the other thread.., just a little teasing gone a little too far perhaps.., that's all..

GS, all those things you want are perfectly reasonable, IMO.

If it happens that you find someone w/all these qualities yet you bring vastly more income than she, I think you are totally fine w/wanting to ensure you mean more to her than a paycheque. The term 'golddigger' didn't arise from nowhere.

I was appalled at what happened to Paul McCartney. I'm interested, tho, if Linda had lived & they split, what would you have said she was 'entitled' to, financially?

You give me far too much credit Indi.., that was honestly.., an unintentional mistake on my part.., and I wish I had my USB cable to take a picture and upload it so you can see in what condition the book is in.. I do set up hoops.., and you and others do jump them.., but this was NOT one of them..

And besides.., both you and Vash have gained far too much respect on my books for me to throw up any more hoops for either one of you to jump.., honestly and truthfully.., I feel that we are beyond that now.., this was NOT a hoop I put up for you to jump through..

That's not one of my fears to be honest.., i've been around the Upper West side and got numbers from NYC JAPs just to demonstrate to Goose how some women are just attracted to value.., the answers they're most interested to get are to question like.., "what do you do? what are you studying? what school do you go to? did your parents push you to go do that? or really, what do they do?"

But in general.., i'm very attracted to creative types.., artistic types.., something inside me just goes off.., it wins me over in a heartbeat.., (strange.., I know).., but since that's the case.., i've been very fortunate to not have really any of the people i've ever dated look at me like just some paycheque.. or potential paycheque..

The issue with artistic/creative types.., is that when picking a career path.., money and the future was not something they were thinking too much about.., and it's something rarely any of them think about currently in their life...., they don't have to bring money to the table.., I don't feel any less attracted to a woman who tells me her parents are poor.., and she's poor.., and has nothing financially to offer.., that's fine.., it would be nice if that wasn't the case.., but it's not at all a deal-breaker if it isn't.., but at least know how to manage money.., when something doesn't click in my higher order needs & wants.., in that up-most level of importance.., it's a significant turn-off.., I can feel it inside of me.., feeling significantly less attracted..

Hmm.. married for 26 years.., let's take away my personal bias to the fact that she was a lovely women born in New York.., artistic/creative type.., let's just let that not bother us at all.., let's throw that away somewhere.., gone.., good..

Hmm.., 26 years.., 4 children.., co-wrote "Live or Let Die".., a song he won an oscar for.., member of Wings.., photographer.., author..., it's a great question.., complex.., and i'm thrilled you asked.., definitely something to ponder..

First.., we'd have to look at what he created.., we can't say that Paul would be entitled to anything relating to income from the Wings.., photography.., or books she may have authored.. (all things she will retain right and ownership to).., all of that is hers.., if I was her attorney.., I would also ask for 40% of all royalties to be collected in the future from "Live or Let Die".., and 40% of any amount that was already received from that song.., (40% because she co-wrote it.., which means Paul wrote the other half of the song.., and produced and preformed it.., this is why we're not looking at 50%).., also.., considering she was married to Paul for 26 years.., and he is the highest earner among the two.., I would ask for $1 million for the first 5 years.., $2 million for the next 5 years.., and $3 million for each year after.., ($5+10+48=$63 million).., (I would ask for alimony.., but only as a bargaining chip.., to then "compromise" later by agreeing to not ask for alimony in return for something else.., she wouldn't really get alimony anyway with such net assets.., royalties.., and earning assets).., then depending on custody of the children (both good people.., so it's questionable.., but let's just say she got primary custody of the kids).., I would ask for $250,000 in child support.., per child.., annually.., to be paid evenly.., monthly.., throughout the year.. 4 children.., comes out to $1 million a year.. property owned jointly.., and all marital assets not mentioned would be split 1:1 (50% respectively)..

Haha! BD.., you crack me up.., very cleaver once again..

For anyone who REALLY doesn't know..,

    Hoops:

    - Wtf you guys talking about? What's a hoop? (hoop)
    - A hoop is blah blah blah (jumping the hoop)

    More examples:

    - Ugh! I can't drink this anymore.., it's too strong.. (hoop)
    - What else do you want? Bartender.., what else do you have that's not so strong? (moron that just jumped the hoop)

    Hoop Theory in dating:

    - Mmm.., I love guys who don't shave completely (touches your 5 o'clock shadow.., also a hoop to see if you'll jump it and start to chase her after she shows you some interest)
    - Really? Thanks.., so.., are what are you drinking? (jumped the hoop)

    - Really? It must be really hard to be a business consultant.. (hoop to see if she can get you to brag for her)
    - It is.., but you get by.., it's a lot of math.., and statistics.., and business school is really competative.., and the whole working environement.., blah blah (jumped the hoop)

    - What's up with your hair? (hoop-set-up)
    - Why what's wrong with it? (almost jumped)
    - It looks so bad.., you should go fix it or something (hoop to see if her disinterest in you will bother or affect you)
    - (you go and fix it.., and also jumped the hoop)

    - Are you being critical of me? (hoop to see if she can get you to explain yourself to her)
    - I'm not being critical.., it's just that blah blah (jumped the hoop)

    - How dare you? That's so mean! (hoop to see if she can get you to apologize to her)
    - I'm sorry (jumped the hoop)

The classic hoop: (the fake reach)

    (bill comes for dinner)
    Him: I'll get it
Her: Oh no.., are you sure? (hoop)
Him: Yeah.., don't worry about it (jumped the hoop)

I like this classic example.., because when people learn about linguistic patterns and hoop theory.., they tend to get anal.., all of a sudden.., everything is a hoop.., they're all over the place.., and they don't want to jump them.., but as that example shows.., some hoops are OK to jump.. how strange would it be to have something like the following take place:

    - Hey.., i'm Mike.., and you are? (hoop)
    - Fcuk off! I'm not telling you my name! (doesn't jump hoop)

And on that note.., there's also an art to setting up hoops in such a way.., that they're just the right amount of "socially awkward to refuse to jump".., whereby the person really doesn't have a choice but to jump it to avoid seeming "socially awkward".., but at the same time.., by jumping your hoop.., are being sucked into your frame.. (just please.., not everything is a frame game or a hoop you need to jump or avoid jumping.., don't get paranoid if you start to read up some more about hoops & frames) or else you may end up with yet an other awkward situation:

Him: Why don't you give me your number and i'll call you to tell you what time we're going.. (hoop)
Her: I'm sorry.., I don't give out my number.., but give me YOUR number and i'll call you (refusal to jump hoop)

    Best,

I know what you mean dude, same here. Though I prefer if it's a creative hobby on the side and the main career is in something more stable.

I think I might have found someone with these exact qualities
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame
