1 x Turn-based strategy map (á la Civilization).
1 x Tactical battles in real-time
3 x Focus on strategy over mindlessness.
2 x Graphics that are good enough but not machine-eating.
4 x Historical setting around Julius Caesar and all that jazz, especially good if you're somewhat interested in that.

I've almost cut off gaming completely, but when I got spare holidays I fancy spending the evenings bringing my scythians on another war-trek against the bastard greeks.

my favorite rpg that came out for that was mazae 2nd strike. i wish vagrant would have finished it... was a classic.

yeah I'm not going anywhere near WoW because I think there's a good chance it could swallow me up. When I retire, that's when I'm really going to bust out the games.

You've reminded me of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The best game of the 1990s for more than one!!

I would recommend you to try the Final Fantasy series. Actually, FF7 was so good that FF8 was sold out in two weeks. Now they're in FF12, I guess. Those games are a real thing.

I loved the ocarina of time, too That's my favorite Zelda game. I've beaten it at least 10 times.

I've played most of the Final Fantasy games, all the way up until FF10. After that I stopped playing. I mean 10 times? It doesn't get any more final than that. My favorite Final Fantasy games were those on the SNES. #3 and #4.

And Gribble, I loved the old Starfox game on the SNES. I wish they'd keep making arcade shooters like that. Makes me feel like a kid all over again

I just bought Bionic Commando Rearmed last night. $15. Price was right. You ever play the original Bionic Commando?

Anyway, it's a pretty kickass game. The new one stays true to its roots. 2D sidescroller. Kind of like a slow paced Contra.

I played Geometry wars on my friends box. pretty fun. I wish I got the 360 instead of wii sometimes.
