It really amuzes me how little people in this country know about the WWII. Why don't you get a book and read how GERMAN people were treated by the their superiors. How their families were shot if they refused to follow Hitler, how all the women were raped and regular Germans had to raise kids who were not theirs. Please people get your facts straight before forming an opinion!

Hate is only useful if its a productive agent of change. Get over it, Vash, the war is over. MOST ppl lost relatives in it, myself included. The only reason hate remains is b/c bitter ppl get together and mull over things. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
Could you please elaborate on the Israel situation? As a person who lived there, and has a ton of family and friends there, this is the first time I hear of "Israelis have closed the border and have prevented ppl from getting enough food and medicine"

And please stop berating me for having a differing opinion than yours. I'm not an idiot who knows nothing. I did study German culture and history as my major, and have formed my opinions based on what I have learned and experienced (including, yes, BOOKS). Considering I chose not only to live in Germany for a year, but come back for a second year, I hardly have it out for the Germans, so chill the f*ck out.

No, I'm not saying it would've been easy or safe for normal German civilians to raise more protest, and yes, those who did were generally punished harshly (Die Weiße Rose, for instance), but that's the definition of protest.

    You are kidding, right?

She's talking about the way the western media portrays the border closings into Gaza.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

you are completely contradicting yourself, babe. and Vashti what are you thanking her for? i mean you have to be completely bipolar to say those two completely different things:

This is just one article of many. Do a search. Even Israels regular supporters were appalled at what's happened this month. FYI, we aren't ignorant either. We had a palastinian refuge student for a few years AND we have jewish friends. Its sure interesting to hear *both* sides of the issue.

I see no contradiction. The only point of (minor) contention I would add was her statement that the majority went along "blindly". If they were blind, they were simply refusing to look.

As for the media's portrayal of Israeli politics, which obviously shapes the way the western world views Israel, I will let Indi explain it. I am quite shocked you don't know what she is talking about.

Israel says it will open the borders again when Hamas stops launching rockets at southern Israel. Hamas says it will crack down on the rocket launchers when Israel opens the borders.

what side are you on Indi and Vashti?

    ???

    Israel, of course.

    I can't open that link.

Cut the condescending shit, ok? Where do you see a contradiction? Let me clarify what I was pointing out:

The vast majority of German people did not actively protest against the Nazi government. A very small percentage, however, did, and yes,

those who did were generally punished harshly (Die Weiße Rose, for instance). I do not suggest that protesting would have been an easy option.

The second (orange) statement was intended to demonstrate that I am not ignorant of the dangers that existed if one did choose to undermine National Socialist efforts, as you seem to assume everyone (besides yourself) is.

The only point of (minor) contention I would add was her statement that the majority went along "blindly". If they were blind, they were simply refusing to look.
Yeah, I didn't mean it that way. They WEREN'T blind to what was going on - which makes it all the more reprehensible to turn a blind eye.

Wow, those fanatics were using the star of david to desecrate Palestinian tomb stones the same way a white supremacist would use a swastika.

I support their removal. Though, I think it's too bad Israel did it, and not the Palestinians.
