I've found apples customer service great, but that's support for products that I've already *bought*. ie, when you go to http://www.apple.com/support/ and select your product on the side, it already throws up a bunch of common problems ie "battery not being recognised", "trackpad behaving unexpectedly" etc, and I think it's good that they don't just gloss it over and pretend that their products just don't have any issues. Heck there's a even a troubleshooting forum for every product.

who cares if you have the right number, though, you could ring sales support (1-800-676-2775) or sales (1-800-MY-APPLE), say you have a complaint and get them to transfer you.

who really cares though, I mean, one complaint isn't going to make a big company change overnight. however, why not let them know you're pissed off? Your best bet of getting an actual response, though, is by posting it on the discussion forum for the macbook.

think of if everyone thought that way? then, surely no change would take place. although my feelings in particular may not cause apple to change overnight, my feelings plus other people's feelings could.

you really think it would get the most attention in the forum eh? well in that case, here goes nothing.

yeah, guess that's true, if nobody votes nothing happens

I didn't say most attention, just most response. most likely some other people will chime in who had the same problem.

someone explained to me how every computer is made in china, from scratch. well what the ****, they should explain that on there so people like me are not baffled.

i assumed that that the standard systems were built in another country, then shipped to apple, wehre they could make customizations according to each order. because, i mean, their stuff isn't a very wide variety. plus orders would go quicker. do you think they ever considered doing that?

lilwing - Don't get your panties all waded up ssh. I can understand why you be mad, but companies don't bend that easy to their customer complaints, they bend faster when they are loosing money. If so many people are having the same problem as you then why hasn't anyone try and use the net to get this problem known by the public and then I am sure Apple will do something about it.

Secondly where the heck are you looking for customer service, because their contact info is here:

http://www.apple.com/contact/

It took me 10 seconds to find it as the link was on the front page of the Apple website.

haha, i told you. apple is full of bastards. they deleted my thread. why was it deleted? because there is no feedback forum for them to move it to.

my message wasn't even that bad. people responded in a positive, helpful way and i thanked them. for **** sake. i am glad loveadmin here is a good guy. some people just need a lesson on life if you know what i mean.

well atleast they provided me with a feedback link, which appears to be missing from the webpages of apple's site. they didn't provide any numbers, either.

here is the message i recieved via email from them:

lilwing,

Please read our Apple Discussions Use Agreement so that you may discover what constitutes an appropriate post to our service. Section two, "Submissions," is most germane.

Your post, copied below, has been removed from Apple Discussions. This area is intended to address technical issues about Apple products. Posts that do not conform to the Apple Discussions Use Agreement are inappropriate.

Please see the Apple Discussions Use Agreement at http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa for more information on the proper use of Apple's Discussion forums.

Each Discussion user is required to agree to these terms before gaining posting privileges. You reserve the right to not post on Apple Discussions should you disagree with these terms.

If you would like to send feedback to Apple about a product, please use the appropriate selection at http://www.apple.com/feedback

Sometimes you have comments or concerns for which there is no technical response. If you need the kind of help that a troubleshooting expert can't provide, you can call Apple's Customer Relations group.

This message is sent from a send-only email account. Any replies sent to this address are deleted automatically by the system.
A copy of your message for reference:

hallo, my name is näte.
i have been thinking for a while to get an apple computer. i am a linux geek, but my college requires mac and we use it at work. so i figured 'what the hey, why not just get a mac and make my life easier?'

so i saved my money up all summer to purchase this thing. I finally ordered it on July 23rd.

I am pretty angry because I ordered two day shipping, thinking was going to recieve the laptop in a matter of two days. After 5 days I started freaking out. I found out that shipping is the time after apple delivers the product, and consists of the time it takes to get to your doorstep.

7 days later, i got an email notifying that my product should be to my house by the 8th of august. that's wednesday. 3 days left, now.

I am very angry, very disappointed. I don't understand why it takes 17 mother****ing days to deliver a laptop. Especially to a US customer who payed extra to recieve it in a shorter-than-normal time limit. I feel like one of those customers at Mcdonalds that has to wait 20 minutes on the side for my burger and fries. Did they have to slaughter the hog and get the fresh parts? Come on.

If it wasn't the fact that it took a ridiculous amount of time, it's the fact that apple lied to me and did 4-day shipping instead of two.

my first experience with apple has not been a good one. has anyone else been ripped off? waht do i do?

ssh? secure shell? what does ssh mean?

that's a good point, jurupa. i found 12 complaints on internet forums. 2 more on website blog things similar to my own (mine was 3rd to pop up in the query ) i am sure this would piss off a lot of people. probably not enough to make apple care. i'm sure it is an annoyance for many people, but they just don't care enough to say anything.

to answer your other question, i was looking on the invoice, inside my login, obvious places where i would put the information if i had built the website.

okay. i didn't get ripped off *that* bad. it was a matter of $20. which is a lot for me, but not for most people. i value every penny.

it didn't add to the fact that i am very impatient either. i am thinking about removing the article from my website, but all the people i know who've read it so far laughed their asses off. i'd hate to take such a hilarious piece off.

yeah, I found the contact page too but there is no feedback/complaints contact, at least that I could see.. consumer relations, I guess? Apparently not even the forum has a general feedback section, that does really suck.

it's cool that people responded, tho. I figured there must be people with the same problem. It is ridiculous.. hey you want 4 day or 2 day shipping? no mention how long it'll take to *be* shipped in the first place? yeah, that'd piss me off too. Luckily I'm never in a rush.. I think I got my ibook a week or so after ordering, without any kinda special shipping. That might've been when apple still had production in Cork, though? who knows.

Keep this thread updated. I need to upgrade from my G4 iBook (which I'll prbly give to my son). Want to know if there are any problems.

Which OS version is your iBook running? Still Tiger? I heard Leopard isn't going to be released until October... think I'll wait for it until then.

what are you on drugs? if I wanted a mirror instead of a monitor, I would go to the bathroom instead.

If I wanted to be blinded by the light behind me every time I open my laptop, I'd buy a flashlight instead.

If I wanted my graphic works to look deceptively great on my display yet look like shit on every other display, I'd play with the display setting in instead.

If I wanted to not accurately see the effects of making levels, curves and selective colour adjustments to a photo, I would wear dark glasses while editing my photos instead.

If I wanted to be unable to sit out on the patio with my laptop because there is too much light, I'd get a basement and become a sun-allergic nerd instead.

If I wanted to be distracted by seeing my groggy face at 4 AM instead of seeing the essay i'm trying to work on, I'd.. well, I guess I really would have to buy something with a glossy screen.

hate. hate hate! stupid glossy screens. oh i'm sure i'd get used to it eventually.. but I had a long conversation about this with a fellow designer- who actually paid to REPLACE the display with a matte one. stupid. I want to smack someone.

This is what we faithful apple users get for attracting non-designery windows users to switch to macs. What are they gravitating to the glossy displays going "ooo.. shiny.. Ooh, photos look better on this monitor!" yayy! yes, they do look 'better', same as many home printers make photos look 'better' because it isn't accurate... guhhh..
