hm. I tried this when I was getting the 404 error and it didn't work. worth a try though i'm sure!

ah, just got back from my appointment and thought I'd actually try reading your post. hey, you googled comments that favour your own opinion. You even picked out your "favourites" because they most agree with you. This obviously proves you're right!

Also, there are some arguments in there that are not valid or just silly.

here are some of the arguments:

    1. finding cracked software for mac is harder
if breaking the law is a priority, then maybe they should stick to PC No seriously, I never had any trouble..

    2. macs can't do gaming.
no. if you want to game, don't get a mac. I don't think any mac enthusiast would argue with that.

    3. my custom built computer is better than a mac.
well of course the computer you built from scratch for your own personal requirements is better- for you. This is what I've been saying! My point is simply that this does not mean everyone can build their own. Sewing your own clothes is also much more flexible and fits you *exactly*, but most people still go and pay more to buy ready-made clothes from shops. The only difference is that you don't see sewing-enthusiasts judging people who don't sew!

    4. stories of a mac not working, or experiences about macs not working and PC's working better and such.
these are just experiences. I don't tout my experiences (which have been the opposite) as proof of anything other than grounds for my own personal preference!

    5. the security through obscurity argument again.
shall I explain why this is a flawed argument again?

    6. if you know a little about the internet, you'll never get a virus on pc.
yeah, but you have to wary of mysterious files, and worry about getting the latest protection. you say idiot proof.. I say worry free. I *could* get a pc and *learn* how to keep it virus free, i'm sure it's relatively easy for someone like me who's computer literate in general. Or I could get a mac and not have to worry about it. does this make me an idiot? no!

    7. Linux and FreeBSD are where it’s at.
    not for the average user.

    8. more software.
again, if you value that.. then go for it, but don't push it on me.
also, this is not true for everything. for instance, my orthodontist has macs because the specialised software he wants to use is only available for mac.

    9. mac users are oblivious to things beyond iLife.
hah. comparing iLife to real, proper pro apps is like comparing legos to steel. However, iLife does allow people like my mom to make photo books, movies, websites, etc, things they wouldn't have known how to do otherwise.
I know software like this surely exists on other platforms as well- however, it isn't presented as a neat bundle that simply comes with every computer as standard.

but really, these people aren't into doing more than a little home movie editing or making a website of dog photos! And yes, if that gets them interested in more serious apps, they might come to the internet and ask about that stuff on forums. what's wrong with that?

    9. a mac with 2 gigs of ram froze after opening 3 windows!
wow. that's some bad mojo. Until recently I had 512 RAM and I am the queen of leaving thousands and thousands of windows open. Right now, it's literally.. 38.
again, different experiences. neither that guys nor mine prove anything.

    10. macs just look nice which makes idiots buy them
hm.. ferrari has nothing on ford again! (though, personally I'd prefer a mustang over a ferrari, so maybe that analogy is flawed)
I'm willing to pay the salary of whoever designed the apple products i've bought. in my opinion, macs look nicer on front desks, etc. Looks are a totally subjective thing. It is not just the looks though, but the compactness and lightness too.

If a friend buys a pair of expensive prescription glasses, do you say "what the heck, you could've gotten the same effect much cheaper, you idiot! hah, you must think that the nice frames make you see better than with cheaper glasses- you've been totally fleeced!", or do you say "hey, nice new glasses!". WHY is a nice looking computer such a big deal, when people pay premiums for 'designer' things and brands as status symbols all the time?
Take the titanium powerbook. Pretty much the exact same as the g4 ibook. In fact, the ibooks plastic casing is much more resilient and doesn't dent like metal does. Yet, people still paid extra for the titanium. Same with the black macbook- you're paying for the black. I don't care, I still want one this is not 'cos i'm an idiot, as you can see i'm well aware of apples differentiating strategy here, It's just my goddamned personal preference.

I can't resist this one 'cos it involves cars: my family have a skoda. not sure that brand is know where you are, but it's basically made of all Audi and VW parts, but without the prestige that comes with those brands- therefore, it is of the same quality as an Audi, but costs much less. Why would anybody still buy an Audi? Because of the look, the prestige, the status symbol that comes with that name. Are Audi drives also idiots?

    11. CS2 crashes like a bitch on OSX
odd, hardly ever crashed for me.. except that time when I had 3 gigs of free space and photoshop tends to use 7 gigs of virtual memory. no big mystery there. again, it's just individual experiences!

phew.. i'm sure I haven't covered everything... but I gotta clean out the rest of my room

hmm, i'm not sure what is wrong with your computer, post a screenshot, maybe that will help me recognize the problem.

oh, it fixed itself by now, or maybe loveadmin fixed it? basically, it said something roughly along the lines of; forbidden. you cannot access newpost or whatever on this server, 404 error.

it wasn't a server side error. lol, otherwise everyone would be getting the error. i'm viewing from multiple computers with different operating systems too.

    Installed latest Firefox...
Haven't tried quoting yet,I'll try later...

The point of the links were to be silly, have some fun & have a few opinions of the users that use both systems. The majority of these users preferred PC's for their tasks...Just saying
My favorite post was a perfect likeness to my situation,of course I was going to choose that...

As for system crashes & viruses...
My PC desktop & Laptop haven't crashed at all since I got them 3 years ago...Neither have I had a virus Norton couldn't handle.
But that probably proves that if your going to forget maintenance, the PC/Mac will breakdown regardless...

I play music with anything I do,even rendering of scenes...Runs so well, not one issue or problem from either side.

I think with this topic there is allot more of the Personal, then the Computer on both sides ( as Mac & PC are both Personal Computers ).

Maybe we can fuse our experiences into a great big ball of "who cares at the end of the day" & get on with our lives...
Let people decide for themselves by spending loads of cash & forming their own opinions.

What say you Tiay, of the Guild of Apple Macintosh???

yeah, but I could equally find people who share my opinion and quote them. My housemate, for example, used both platforms and now prefers mac.

no problem dude, i assume you were using internet explorer. firefox runs a lot smoother than internet explorer.

tiay, on your mac you should be using safari, it has better video capabilities than firefox does.

firefox does everything except video better. its video quality is getting better with each version, however. you think it will ever surpass safari's vid quality?

I don't know, why not though? Firefox is faster than Safari, and a lot more customisable. I'm told safari pretty much does everything that every site tells it to do even when the window isn't active, which isn't so compatible with my leaving-hundreds-of-windows-with-millions-of-tabs-in-them-open style of web browsing. You should see my window menu after a month of browsing...

in the end tho, safari has all my bookmarks and everything just the way I like it, so I don't mind. Yes I know I can export bookmarks and such but it's never quite the same..
