I must correct you here, the US actually consumes over a quarter of the world's energy resources. Please dop if you are going to be a racist here at least get some facts straight.

I actually had a semi-interesting conversation about racism today. Anyways, i think people should stop using ignorance as an excuse to make racism ok. You know when someone says something really racist and someone always has to f*cking say, "oh you know they just don't know any better because of ________"(insert excuse. Usually consists of their age/upbringing/where they live).

The way to combat ignorance is with understanding and compassion, not anger. Rather than getting upset with people that brush racism off, maybe try to see that they are trying to diffuse possible situations. Educate them so they can see they are making things worse.

And for f**ks sake, how do you know these excuses in some cases aren't actual reasons? Some people literally do not know better. Don't treat these people with anger and resentment, open their eyes, educate them, give them the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe if everyone could do that, racism wouldn't be an issue.

People should educate themselves, i'm tired of dumbass people saying they don't know any better or someone else making an excuse for them. And that's the point, the reasons are very real but just because they are real doesn't excuse it which a lot of people seem to think it does.

And if it sounds like it, i'm not angry. It's just really disheartening i guess. At this point i've had to many people say racist shit too me and too many times where i've had to sit there and educate someone on this issue that it just makes me want hurl.

I'm going to give you an example of what I mean and you might understand where I am coming from.

In various parts of Australia, there are no immigrants. We have Caucasians that have been here for generations and the Kooris (aboriginals) that have been there generations before. The people that live in these areas are usually rather simple folk, not in the fact that they lack intelligence but in the fact that they are often on properties and live is simpler (not easier, just less complicated). These people work their arses off and often consider extensive education a luxury they cannot afford, they often don't have time. Often the Caucasians in these areas have watched the Kooris do very little but drink and claim unemployment (which as I have previously stated is more if you happen to be Koori - and since mentioning that the other day I found out they get another $15 a fortnight if they own a dog! Seriously?? Can anybody say that that isn't racist and that it's not being fuelled by the government? How can we overcome racism if our governments are racist). With only this experience of dealing with other races, can you not see how some people need the benefit of the doubt and a little more compassion? And I am not being racist with my statements about Kooris. I understand that it is often very hard for them to find work and, us white folk introduced them to
alcohol while taking over their land. I'm not surprised some of them cling to it.

My point being, you may not be racist but you are being just as judgemental. You do not know what opportunities to learn someone has or hasn't had. You may be their first opportunity to learn something new. What are you expecting of people? You don't want to be judged on your race, yet to ignore your skin tone is being colour blind... what exactly are you expecting of people?

Even though i'm not showing it at the moment i do have a lot of compassion for people who just need a heads up on their ignorance. I guess what really is frustrating to me is that is seeing so much ignorance and people making excuses for it on a regular basis when CLEARLY they have the resources to KNOW BETTER. eh, i'm too tired to talk about this right now. Maybe tomorrow

I don't have anything against anyone, everyone has there own perspectives on things and I don't feel the need to argue about this, I'm just putting my thoughts. (this will be the only post I put on here, I don't wanna say the wrong thing and get uneeded crapp started)
