Invest it, Fras.
Well, to get technical, he sent 2 $500 American Express gift cards.
So I'm not quite sure if I could put it away in savings, or anything like that.
I honestly don't know what to do with them.
For a while we were getting incentive overtime at work in the form of gift cards. I really just wanted to save it. My apartment complex at the time took credit cards, so I paid my rent with the gift cards and socked away the money I would have spent on rent. Guess that's only helpful if you're in an apartment, but you could just use the gift cards on whatever daily stuff you need and hang on to the cash you earn.

save it in case you ever have to evacuate again.
baby ya hustle. but me i hustle harder.
Am Ex is one of those companies that is in trouble. Don't save those, convert them to cash somehow & then invest in a mining company.
you could just give it to me as a christmas gift...

It sounds like your dad is trying to demonstrate his love for you, Fras. Isn't that what manly-men do when they can't say the words? Just throw money at you?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?
You can send that shit my way I am broke to the tenth power squared times 11 thousand.

"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."
Actually.
My dad told me he was going to buy me a 600 dollar digital SLR camera, but decided that since the economy is hard, he'd give me the money instead so I could use it how I needed to.
My dad has always spoiled me, none of which I've ever asked for, but I know he cares, and that's how he shows it, so it means all the same.
I had a Mastercard gift card from a bank branch once and I read you can use it at an ATM to withdraw money, though I never actually tried that. Is that one of the options for you Fras?

I'm not sure.
I was talking to him yesterday, and he said he really wanted to get me that camera, but I just can't justify buying a 600 dollar camera when I could buy tools or gas with that money, or whatever else.
that's one fun night at the bunny ranch.

...this is just my perspective on the situation...
There is a very easy solution and Bokonon said. I do this all the time (I hate carrying case=had major identity fraud happen and just cashed my stipend check!.The cards, etc I fixed but the cash is gone forever )
Anyway, just use the card for your everyday purchases and your own money for savings or places that do not use card.
