Should I stop thinking about her?

I hope some of you can help me out with this - I'm thinking a lot about it.

Well, for 1½ month ago at a school-party I met this girl through one of my friends (a girl,(doesn't matter). We talked a bit, and I think there was a chemistry between us. Her friend told me that too, that she would like to talk with me and so on.
And when we talked it felt a bit embarrassing, not as usual, more like when your talking with someone you like. (hope you understand)

Well I followed her home after the party and got her number.
After we said goodbye she sent me a message:
"Thanks for following me home, take care." (EDIT: I answered her message)

I haven't wrote or talked with her since that day.
What I'm wondering is, I saw her today outside her classroom. I smiled to her, and she seemed to feel a little shocked or surprised, and before I blinked with my eyes she was gone, just saw her hurrying up at the floor above.

Well what should I do now? I'm thinking about writing to her, but it also seems like she maybe just want to forget everything..
    What do you think?

And if you think I should write to her, then what should I ask/ say to her?

    Thanks.

EDIT: I did write her back the night she wrote to me..

You should've replied to that message and tried to setup a next meeting.

She was probably surprised to see you after she crossed you out during the no contact stage. I don't know what your options are at this stage. Try talking to her. Look for signals.

You should write her back! Honestly, if I was her and I wrote you and you never wrote back I'd be like "Oh ok.. Maybe he wasn't so into me?" and then if I ever saw you again, I would probably feel somewhat stupid and shyer than I initially would have. She could have probably thought that it would be embarrassing for her, or it's just an awkward situation. I would write to her ASAP! Break the ice a little bit by saying something about the encounter you guys had. Sounds like there is chemistry there, go for it!

I agree. I don't know why you didn't message her back to set up a date or at least talk or something. You need to talk to her. Sounds like you are in high school. You might want to talk to her in the hallway. If that is uncomfortable for you, write a note about how you want to go out this weekend and that you are interested.
