Very Strong Feelings for Girl with a Boyfriend

Their relationship seems a tad lukewarm, and whenever I'm around her, she does flirty things like preening herself. Obviously, this means very little in the scope of things; some women are flirty.

There's no way we could ever have a relationship, but the heart wants what it wants. I've tried ignoring her for the past month, yet these feelings persist.

    Any suggestions?

Hmm . . . I guess this thread seems a bit cryptic. I will be happy to add details.

Why bother? If you can't have a relationship, then seems like too much drama.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

This is the exact problem. But the heart wants what it wants. I'm trying to exorcise these feelings.

We go to the same school. She's moving to Southern California; I'm going to New Jersey. She's much older. She hasn't given any indication of wanting a relationship beyond a friendship. The whole thing makes me feel like a messy twenty-something.

Well, you are a 20-something, if not typically messy.

Bah. 'The heart wants'. Whatever. You know you decide who/how this goes. Too much drama.

New Jersey? Why, unless its Princeton. But man, what a hell hole soon as you get outside of the town. S.Cal (San Diego, La Jolla) sounds so much better.

The problem with these relationships is that the mind convinces itself otherwise. We latch onto any indication of interest. We selectively forget messy little details such as age, or location, or relationship history.

I found an associate position in Northern New Jersey. Considering this economy, I could not be more grateful. I actually like Montclair a lot.

How should I try to forget her?

Stop making posts about her. Just do NC soon as possible. Don't burn bridges tho, you never know.

Congrats on the new job and the move.
