If he sobbed means he's a sentimental weak ass. Maybe that's why he said he was immature?
Or, in worst case scenario he really liked you and made something really bad that you're not trully (yet) aware of.

If he starts crying then it kinda shows that he's immature . . . It's okay to be emotional but he's acting so emotional.

If le loved you 'that' much, he'd make every effort to keep you and he'd try to grow up and change his immature ways. If he is really immature that is and it aint some excuse to dump you.
