You could, um, go to a guitar store and buy something. Maybe even talk to a salesmen

What about a new guitar strap? They come in lots of designs, so even if he has one he likes, he can change it out.

I thought about the guitar strap idea. Is it dorky to get one with his name on it?

I don't know... I think I would prefer one with a cool design on it, but I think it may be an individual thing...

Are they acoustic guitars with a plug output to amp?

If yes, how about a cool guitar pedal where you can mix your own sounds (With reverb, delay, distortion, WahWah and other Fx)

Get him a cheap apple pie from the grocery store and tell him it is for when he goes out of town for a concert and you can't go with him. Tell him you got him a cheap one because you were worried that if you got a nice expensive one than he might like it a lot and you don’t want that.

    Just a joke of course.

ok, i've always wanted to buy a guitar, and start playing, and even teach myeslf...

    ...who can help me?

the first question is, acoustic or electric? i'd be more interested in electric...

...they have starter kits, which would you recommend?

this is a time of GIVING, and i am thinking about myself! i'm a bad person

starter kits are trash. get a real guitar from a REAL guitar store, not a guitar center. and get a nice (small) amp and get some tab books. merry christmas.
