    I need a shark.

A divorce lawyer, that is. I need one, and have no idea how to get one that is good, and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

(All this time, I thought we were going to be going through mediation, but my soon-to-be-ex surprised me with his change in plans by email.)
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Ask around. There's got to be someone you know that has gotten a divorce.

Other than asking around for the best attorney you can find maybe this link will help you understand a little more and what to watch out for from so called sharks who just want to rip you off

Oh he wants to do war of the roses huh? If you were here I could set you up. If I were you id go around interviewing people until I found an old man with highly expensive cologne and jewelry and assume he's taken men for all they were worth many times over.

Asking around is usually the best way to do it, from what I hear. Do you know anyone locally that has gone through this?

My sister's divorce cost her $100,000 ten years ago, and she didn't even own any property! Of course, that wasn't HER fault (nor the lawyer's). Her ex wanted custody of the kids, which is pretty much the opposite of the problem I am having. Succ ass is right.

I am not sure if I should choose a lawyer in my own location, or if it is better to go to the neighboring valley (which is larger and has a larger number of prestigious lawyers). I don't know how much time I would actually have to spend in person with them.

Also, I really don't know any divorced people (besides my sister), whose opinion I would value.

I didn't want to bother with it because it doesn't make economic sense to do so, but I think his girlfriend is pushing for it. I believe he also thinks that if we are divorced, our daughter will be more likely to accept his girlfriend.
