    To my fellow Canucks.....

    HAPPY CANADA DAY!

It is our country's bday today....what are you doing for it? I have to work, but I wore some red & white underwear.....then when I get out I will order a pitcher of Canadian beer and watch some fireworks at the lake.

I sure am happy to be Canadian. We rock.

Heh never knew it was July 1st. My sister is coming home on Wednesday (our "national day" is July 4th). Guess she should probably go through Ohio instead of Ontario, customs will probably be an ungodly wait

Oh yeah, I'll be about a 1 minute drive from Canada tomorrow (Grand Island). If I have any excess ammo I'll be sure to point my gun west towards Canada and unload

Joining with Mexico is only slightly worse than joining with Canada in my opinion.

We are trying to ban public sales of fireworks in California. It is already illegal in Los Angeles county because of the fire danger, but most people don't realize that even the "benign" fireworks are classified as class C explosives, and there are approximately 10,000 injuries per year serious enough to require medical attention because of them. So everyone enjoy your holiday, but be careful!

The joys of knowing chemistry. I can have explosives prepared for a decades worth of 4th of July parties in under 24 hours

Meh, I have a healthy respect/fear of explosives. I worked for a pyrotechnic guy for the movie industry that has a huge Gorbechav-style burn scar on his head from an accident.

I'm wary as well. I hate working with ethers because I've heard of chemists who have lost fingers opening old bottles whose contents have decomposed to explosive peroxides. lol actually better yet, my orgo professor was demonstrating the reactivity of some simple organic precursors, in this case some organolithium compounds, that reacts with atmospheric moisture

Too scary for me... I guess I am too vain to want to spend the rest of my life disfigured.

Friend of mine was studying biochem in college. He didn't even make it through his freshman year before he decided to try his hand at fiddling with explosives. Word got out, he was arrested, went through all sorts of hell, got a black mark on his record and was kicked out of college. Now, five years later, he unloads trucks at UPS. I snicker whenever I see him.

That sucks. I don't make explosives, I just know how to as any other person who knows the first thing about chemistry does. I know what the governments attitude is towards even just the word "chemical"

LOL, Canerica sounds like an investment company.

I'd merge Canada with the US East & West Coastal states, but the rest would have to pass a very stringent entrance exam.

Those that didn't want to join could have Quebec. (ouch)
