- Scholastically, you can't use the internet as a resource in a paper. That is because it is known not to be a reliable source. But neither is a newspaper or magazine, because of bias opinions.
- Lots of people don't have cable TV. I live in a remote area and don't even get regular TV channels. I decided to cut the chord and the bill because all I did was channel surf. I'll admit I miss news (yep, I read the news on the internet, lol) and sports (that is what a friend's place is for).
- You do sound materialistic. Maybe mom likes to play the games at Chucky Cheese (do they still have that hit a mole game?) or likes the pizza. Or maybe she knows her friends have kids that need to come along. Maybe they like the character of older homes have to offer (I would rather live there than in tract home mc mansion suburbs).

By the way, I can't get past the disturbing image of you working from home in front of the computer in nothing your brightly colored women's panties.
