Long Distance College Relationship

I have had a girlfriend for 8 months now and now that the summer has started, we had to go our separate ways. She wanted to embark on a casual/open relationship for the summer and get back to normal when the fall starts. I have negative feelings about this and don't know how to go about telling her this. Could she really be looking to hook up with other guys since I'm not there? I asked her why she wanted to go into a open relationship and she told me she wanted to get a couple things out of her system. I called her about it, because anyone could have guessed what those things could've been. I tried to get it out of her but she kept on telling me I have nothing to worry about and it's not a big deal. Thoughts please?

Maybe she wants to see whats out their. do something new? probably meet someone more suited to her? wants to think about things? or completely wants to be with someone else. and also may i ask is she willing to meet up with you and talk things through.?
