Under aged drinking at a bar questions

Just two questions I am curious about. I live in D.C., USA if it matters.

What would happen to a bar where underaged drinking is accuring?

Who would it be best to contact? The police?

I worked at a bar for 4 years.......usually the kids got kicked out and sent on their way. If it keeps happening they shut the bar down for 2 to 3 nights and maybe face fines. If it's extreme, they will lose their liquor license. But I'm talking about Canada....not sure about US laws. You can contact the police or the liquor board, they both end up contacting each other about it anyways.

Not sure because laws vary but the establishment would get into a lot of trouble because it is their responsibility to weed out minors obviously.

It's the responsability of the staff to make sure they are of age before serving them. But if they did provide what looks like legitimate ID, then it falls back on the under age drinker to face fines and not the estabishment. When I worked at a bar I would keep the fake ID's and ID that didn't belong to them, and later hand it over the cops that came in every night or to my manager.....funny one time when I kept someones ID, they had their buddies come up to me telling me I need to give it back...I replied, "What are you going to do about it? Call the police? Go ahead lol"...

Just keep in mind that in some states it's a felony if you're caught in possession of a fake id, not sure about DC.

I'm in Canada it's just a misdemeanor, and it's expected of the establishment to confiscate it and or report it.
