Is age really nothing but a number?

We've all heard that cliche, "Age ain't nothing but a number", but is it for real?

I spent the day with my brother's gf's sister. Things went well and they already think we should get together. I'm pretty sure she likes me. The problem is, I'm 17 and she's 14, but she looks much older. Is she too young? Would it be acceptable if I dated her?

Go ahead and date her. Your difference in age with this girl doesn't make a big diff, except she might be a little immature for your liking, which is ok, because you're only 17 years old, and you can just break up with her.

sounds like a big age gap for the ages that you are both at, i'm not so sure whether it's a good idea tbh

When she is 17 and you are 20, the age difference will be no big deal, but speaking as a mother, I wouldn't let my 14 year old date at all... that's too young. She probably still has Barbies in her bedroom. Besides, your readiness for sex is sure to be at a more advanced level than hers.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

14 is way too young for dating
