    Societal Change

So, in a matter of week...I learned the following things.

    1. My dad's old boss who is nearly 80 years old has lost his wife of 42 years and is now moved to New York City to take up the gay lifestyle (I saw a picture of him on the internet all dressed in leather with tattoos, nipple rings and earrings.

    2. The president of the US has appointed his first tranny to a government post.

    3. The heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune was found dead at 30. A party girl who was married and then took up the lesbian lifestyle.

    4. Apparently, more and more men are becoming transgendered. And, more and more women are becoming lesbians.

Any thoughts on men want to be women and vice versa? Based on some of the photos I saw when I found my dad's old boss' photo on the internet, many of the trannys actually look more feminine that the real women. LOL

I'm glad I just stay home avoid the zoo. I mean, "High Society."

The Nazis did this to Jews (against their will) in the 1940s. I guess they were just ahead of their time

People who used to hide it are coming out of the closest because they don't have to fear for their lives like they used to before.

I didn't ask if you cared or not...I was making an observation of society and asking for a discussion about societal change.

Your reply would indicate that you do not care to observe the world around you--only those things that directly impact your personal private existence. I assume therefore that the Age of Enlightenment would be viewed with equal disdain, right?

The other comment about the Nazis...what exactly does that mean? Whether the Nazi's forcefully dissected people or not has nothing to do with individuals voluntarily doing it to themselves. Duh.

Of course, one still has to put the disclaimer just to ensure that nobody would think otherwise: Yes, I think the Nazi's are the worst form of scum...right up there with the Stalinists, the Maoists, and all the rest of the totalitarian racists.

Or it is symptomatic of a problem with over population, as was found in studies of rats in overpopulated cages?

    Wouldn't surprise me.

The cultural differences between rural populations and urban can be vast, even in the same state.

Though, with the advent of personal automobiles, highways, and the internet, that also has become increasingly ambiguous.

Potentially, but it seems to be more of a change in the western countries which have more individual freedom. The overpopulated developing countries don't have the open gay communities and gay pride parades like we do because of the lack of freedom. Instead they choose the safety of anonymity over there. Give them more individual freedom and they will also come out in numbers, same goes for most gays through the history of human civilization. Ancient Greece for example which was tolerant to gays, it had a substantial open gay community though it wasn't as over populated as for example some present day African cities which have smaller percentage of people who are openly gay. I think mostly because they are scared to come out.

What I mean by "I don't care" is that I'm not bothered by it. I'm much more bothered by repressive religions that preclude proper medical care for children or oppress women, etc.

I don't really mind if people want to let their freak flag fly.

Isn't interesting that Western history indicates that each time a society has become more tolerant is usually approaching the end of its days of power and influence. Must have something to do with mental flabbiness brought on by too much decadence.

    What do you expect?

Humans probably shouldn't be interacting with each other in such numbers.

That's probably why rural areas have managed to stay more conservative. They're not interested in changing anything, therefore they're less tolerant, less innovative, but more stable.

I envision underwear on a stick.

Speaking as someone who has lived in a boring suburb for far too long, I approve of the colorful people in the world. I say we should burn all the polo shirts and khakis!
