Prostitutes and strippers = the same thing?

Made cause of comments on another thread..

Prostitutes and strippers (that just strip, nothing else and keep bits covered)

Personnally I see strippers as totally different from prostitutes as they dont let men touch..are not selling their body for sex but merely to look at so have different values...

It doesn't really matter to me unless the guy I was dating didn't see the obvious difference. Stripper - sure, have a good time, get a lap dance. Prostitute - no, no, no.

However, strip clubs down in TJ are one in the same really.

    Am I having deja-vu? Of course there's a difference.

Vashti can correct me if I'm wrong, but what I believe was being eluded to was the fact that some strippers tend to delve over into the seedier escort side of things...I bounced in a couple of adult entertainment clubs when I was young, so it's been centuries, but I highly doubt the game has changed much and yes, there was some escorting going on, but it wasn't the majority.

Hehe, I just thought it would get more opinions by having its own thread as it wasnt really related to the thread that was going on

There are a lot of clubs here that offer more than the usual strip..but there are also a lot that are of a higher class than them that dont allow touching or even individual strips but are more of a pole dancing type club.

No, prostitutes and strippers are not totally different. In an important way they are essentially the same.

Is there a difference in dictionary definitions? Yes, there is. Is there a difference in their activities? Well, there's some. Are prostitutes and strippers the same "social type?" Yes, definitely.

There's no preferential difference between a prostitute, a stripper, a party-girl, a gang-bang girl, or a crack whore. They all share the same "values" concerning sex, society, and human dignity-- especially women's dignity-- and their existence degrades society.

Or perhaps it's better said that a degraded society produces women of the type, and an utterly degraded society-- like ours-- encourages them.

They all end up being porn stars anyway.

yeah, they're not that different in my mind. Most strippers end up hooking anyway.

Just a few comments on Chump4u's interesting and provocative post. I think there are more differences than similarities in parts of his list, and only one commonality ... that they all exploit their own sexuality. Beyond that, there are many differences in motivation.

I would put those girls (and some others) into three categories:

    1) Those who exploit their sexuality for money
    -- Prostitutes
    -- Strippers
    -- Porn Stars
    -- Gold Diggers

    2) Those who exploit their sexuality for other reasons
    -- Party Girls
    -- Gang-Bang Girls
    -- Attention Junkies

    3) Those who exploit their sexuality out of desperation
    -- Crack Whores

In answer to OP's question, I don't see much difference between strippers, prostitutes, porn stars and women who marry a man they don't love because he is well-off.

For me, there's a HUGE difference...for many reasons. The main one being, I'd have no problem with being a stripper, but, I will NEVER be a prostitute!
if I'm okay with being one but not being the other, then (to me) there's most definately a difference!
If I had to choose between loving you and breathing, I'd use my last breath the tell you that I love you

Just 'cause I'm a hick don't mean I'm stupid...and i'm more than happy to prove that to ya'll anyday!

So we have pretty much concluded that everything listed above are simply different paths to a dude's wallet.

I proudly admit for the first time in a long time, I don't know a damn thing about that.

Yeah, and there are lots of girls who have no problem being in a sexual relationship with a man just for his money, but would have a huge problem with being a stripper. So what's your point?

The distinctions become ridiculous when you are all doing the same thing - selling sexual stimulation for money or goods.

I laugh at the notion that there are degrees of this. Like the stripper who claims to be better than a whore because it's "just visual" and for "tips." Or the lap-dancer who convinces herself that she isn't a prostitute while she is rubbing his penis with her vulva just to get him off for $25. Or the prostitute who has sex with strangers but is true to her boyfriend because she doesn't kiss them on the lips!

A truly degraded, base and utterly vile society is one that labels sex as dirty. In a world of violence and hate, I say we need all the strippers and prostitutes we can find.

Out in Nevada I believe, there are places that have legalised prostitution and such, and as long as things are regulated and kept clean, sure whatever. As long as you aren't married or whatever (morals come into play here) but even without legalised prostitution, people who are married and risking their vows, or even those in committed relationships will seek it out and put themselves in a precarious situation.
Because I confused myself; If it's legalised and regulated (the girls/guys get tested frequently) it's a much safer alternative than seeking seedier alternatives.

On to the original question; yea, there are SOME strippers who are prostitutes (I worked as a waitress in a club) but not all of them are. I think if you're going to be a stripper, at least have some class and do the whole exotic dance thing, work the pole! Don't wiggle your ass around and dry hump the air *yawn*

As for my man, no prostitutes please (illegal or otherwise), strippers I don't mind, in the guys-night-out sense, or hell, take me with you. Buy ME a lap dance (Lady of my choice).
