Advice needed: Is it the right time to make a move?

Hello everyone, I'm really in need of a little advice!
I'm mid-40s girl and been single 7 months, but there is a man who I see several times a week in the course of my business who I've been getting quite fond of recently. We've known each other in this capacity for about 8 months, so not exactly strangers and he seems quite chatty and I'm 100% sure he's single from what he's said.
Now I'm in two minds whether to ask him out, but I've not been in this position for years so need a little courage.
But theres an event going on locally this weekend which I'd like to go to (Dog show) and I know how much he likes dogs, so really would like to ask him, but not sure how.
Don't want to blow it, but then keep thinking if you don't ask you dont get....I've 2 more opportunities to see him before then
    Any advice welcomed!
    Thanks in advance

Just go out and ask him out to coffee/lunch. It doesn't have to be some amazing prearranged event, asking him out to lunch is very acceptable and I dont believe is too pushy.
