Okay, so I've been talking to my mother and the recent subject has been depo shots. I am not going to lie, I don't care about the birth-control. The females in my family have been cursed with horrible monthly torture. It's just aweful and I regret it.


If anyone gets it, do you have any advise? Is there any bad side affects?

I heard weight gain and hair loss are a few of many side effects. Plus, its not 100% effective when relying on that alone.

I was talking to my doctor about changing my birth control and asked her about depo. She suggested that I not use this method, because researchers are finding many problems with it. It has something to do with causing a decrease in bone density or something. She also said that it may be off the market soon because of similar findings.
I used the patch and hated it. I'm now on ortho tricylene lo and haven't had any problems with it. It's been about a year since I switched.

Weight gain wouldn't be so bad for me, but I wouldn't want to loose my precious hair. Decrease in bone density is definately not good. I guess I will just talk to my doctor about which one would be the best.

I remember someone on LF saying it was used to be used on prisoners to make them infertile? Also, it's freaky how long it takes for your fertility to come back afterwards. no, I wouldn't recommend the depo shot.

Have you tried the pill? You'll have periods but for many people the pill makes them more manageable and lighter.

I forget very easily, I don't know how well the pill would do.
