Why is it bad to wear your heart on your sleeve?

i've heard this more than once......but why is it bad? is it a turn-off?

in my experience, some guys won't even know you're interested if you do anything short of this.......

I disagree that it's bad. I think it's important that people know where you stand. There is less miscommunication this way.

umm... i think you do this kind of thing - to wear your heart on your sleeve- because you are not sure what things you should so in that situationm it's just like is it worth to make a move to let him know your feeling or you are afraid of this guy - isn't he a good person? - something like that.
And you cannot wear your heart on your sleeve forever, if you think that he likes you and he seems to be a good person and sincere to you, so why do you have to hide yourself for more long?

Wearing your heart on your sleeve. Its a good saying.

In a good view it represents that your honest and willing to open your heart to that person. But its also a bad thing because you can easily have your heart broken and be hurt emotionally.

and it all depends on if you feel the risk is worth taking.
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.

"wearing your heart on your sleeve" has many different meanings to different people.

Some may say your weak.. which I happened to think is Bullshit. I wear my heart on my sleeve I dont think I am weak at all but quite the opposite! I am outgoing and dont mind taking risks to get what I want.

The disadvantage is just this... TRUST.. you as the "wearer" put your trust in everything. I know I do and since you are taking that risk, you have a bigger chance for someone to rip your heart out and do the mexican hat dance on it. However, I believe in a philosphy that helps me through almost everything.

LIFE IS TO SHORT. Be happy with what you have and make goals for yourself to achieve. Keep you eye on them and what ever happens in between.. look for the lesson.

nicely said jane, i think i'd think about that a bit more. i must add that the reason i posted this thread originally is not because i am contemplating whether to 'go for' something or not, but it is something which i have heard often but don't quite understand.

    thnx for the responses
