Things have been slow at the job site.
Despite plenty of work needing to be done, everything has been at a crawl the past month. At one point I was even at the company warehouse literally counting screws. Hundreds and hundreds of screws. But at least I was collecting my 12.
I got sent back to the firestation where things have still been slow, and despite finding a few small projects to work on, right at the end of the day, with little forewarning except "some of the helpers at the shop are gonna get laid off", I got my pretty little farewell envelope.
"It wasn't my decision, I came to work to find all these submissions on my desk. It's ultimately the bosses' call, which would explain why he was drinking all weekend."
On the brighter side, they did give me contact to call within Tradesmen International, who are supposed to be looking for helpers for a few jobs anyway, which also are supposed to pay $100, per diem on top of an hourly wage (if I'm mistaken).
"Just wanna let you know we're only doing this because of the lack of work, and it should only be for a few weeks. You guys are our best helpers, and when we get those jobs goin' we definitely want you back."
I called them, and I'm suppose to call back in about 5 minutes.
Hopefully I won't miss a single day of work, but we'll see.
